Food & Beverage Training & Development Manager

Lakewood Country Club seeks a polished and knowledgeable service industry professional to fulfill the role of Food & Beverage Training & Development Manager.  This role will work under the direct supervision of the Service Director and alongside a team of dynamic and focused Food & Beverage Managers, Banquet Managers, and hospitality industry specialists.  This position requires the candidate to work autonomously at times, but also to thrive in a team environment.  While responsibilities include dining room floor coverage in all outlets of the Club, the focus of this position is to develop and maintain modern and relevant training material for all Food & Beverage outlets within the Club and to supervise their implementation.      

Reports to:  Service Director

Job Summary: 

Working closely with the Service Director and Sommelier & Spirits Manager, the Food & Beverage Training & Development Manager is responsible for the management of the Club’s A La Carte Food and Beverage Operation. This includes, but is not limited to, primarily service in the Mixed Grill, Garden Terrace, Garden Room, Pavilion Bar, Leisure Bar, Pool Deck and Wine Room.

Ability to suggestively sell wine and cocktails.

Good organizational and follow-through skills.

Ability to demonstrate proper wine service.

Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.

Job Tasks/DutiCoordinates and implements Training & Development materials and procedures for all Food & Beverage employees and outlets.

  • Authors new training materials intended to tailor outlet specific service to Membership.
  • Cultivates new strategies on training procedures to elevate Member experience across all dining outlets.
  • Conducts all training rollouts with direction and support from the Service Director  
  • Greets Members and Guests.
  • Coordinates food service between kitchen and service staff.
  • Resolves Member and Guest complaints.
  • Assures that revenue control procedures are continually followed.
  • Assists in hiring, training and scheduling of staff.
  • Responsible for daily supervision and evaluations of service staff.
  • Inspects Dining Room to ensure proper maintenance, cleanliness and safety.
  • Assures that pre-opening and closing cleaning tasks are assigned and completed as required.
  • Manages the Member reservation system and waiting list, if necessary.
  • Assists with service of food and beverages in outlets and for special functions when needed.
  • Assists with table clearing and re-setting as needed.
  • Suggests when additional service supplies and small equipment are needed.
  • Enforces established rules, regulations and policies.
  • Assists in Dining Room inventory assessments.
  • Conducts pre-service employee briefings (line-up meetings).
  • Assures that all safety, accident and emergency policies and procedures are in place and consistently followed.
  • Assures that local and state laws and the Club’s policies and procedures for the service of alcohol are in compliance.
  • Performs the duties of MOD/Closing Manager and performs P.O.S. end of day functions a minimum of two nights per week.
  • Monitors internal cost control procedures and performs inventories of plate wares, glass and silver.
  • Other operational duties as assigned

Licenses and Special Requirements: 

  • Food Safety Certification.
  • Alcoholic Beverage Certification.
  • Of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages.
