Duties and responsibilities related to the Assistant Housekeeping Manager role:

Ensuring and maintaining cleanliness, service, and product quality standards of guest rooms, public spaces, restrooms, offices, and banquet/meeting/conference rooms in accordance with federal, provincial, and company health, sanitation, and safety standards;

Leading, directing, and administering all Housekeeping activities, including but not limited to, systems use and management, budgeting and forecasting, inventory control, department management, policy and procedure implementation and enforcement, and meeting participation and facilitation;

Monitoring and developing team member performance, including providing supervision and professional development, conducting counseling and evaluations, and delivering recognition and rewards;

Ensuring proper usage of chemicals and cleaning supplies by monitoring usage, providing complete training for team members, and ensuring proper labeling of hazardous supplies in accordance with WHMIS and company policies and procedures.

Contributing actively to the overall hotel strategic plan;

Providing support to the overall hotel operation to ensure maximized guest satisfaction and efficiency;

Developing and implementing procedures for managing the quality of housekeeping and laundry services. Scheduling routine inspections of all guest rooms and public areas to ensure furnishings, guest rooms/suites, equipment, housekeeping and food and beverage linens, public restrooms, lobby, etc., are clean and in good repair to meet guest satisfaction;

Responding to guest complaints and special requests, and ensuring corrective action is taken to achieve complete guest satisfaction;

Perform any other duties as requested by the Housekeeping Director.

About you

The Assistant Housekeeping Manager is a property Assistant Department Head responsible for the execution of the Housekeeping department, areas which include: Room Attendants, Public Area Attendants, and Laundry Attendants. A successful candidate should strive to continually improve guest and employee satisfaction and maximize the financial performance of the department by owing focus areas and topics of the department, while leading the team to exceed property goals. In this role, you will be assisting the Director of Housekeeping in managing the day-to-day operation of the Housekeeping functions of the hotel, which include guest rooms, public areas including residences and back-of-house areas. You will also be responsible in leading and training the housekeeping team as well as managing the budget allocation and supplies for the department.
