Job Summary:
The Banquet Houseperson is responsible for performing the set-up and break-down of banquet
events in a safe and efficient manner.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for the set-up and tear-down of rooms for banquets and other events in
accordance with established BEO, training standards, and guest and management
expectations.
Set up tables, chairs, stage, A/V equipment, and various food and beverage equipment
according to specific diagrams.
Assist in the cleanliness, care, and inventory of china, glass, flatware, and department
equipment.
Enforce and follow all sanitation procedures and safety guidelines.
Assure an environment which emphasizes cooperation, communication, and teamwork
with all departments.
Support compliance with all internal procedures and regulatory requirements, including
those associated with underage and intoxicated guests.
Support current law and policy to provide a work environment free from illegal and
discriminatory behavior.
Complete job duties with minimal supervision, maintain acceptable attendance, and use
appropriate judgment.
Job duties, tasks, work hours, work requirements, and other duties as assigned may be
added or changed at any time.
Must have basic knowledge of banquet menus and beverage lists
Conduct final inspection to ensure function space is properly set
Responsible for collection, count and drop off of clean and soiled linens
Provide safe environment for guests and staff by recognizing any possible hazards
Keep back storage and electrical room clean and free of clutter
Assist Captains, Servers and Bartenders upon request
Job Requirements:
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
High school or equivalent education required
Minimum of 2 - 4 years of experience in hotel or resort environments with a strong
emphasis in Banquet Houseperson and/or food and beverage experience.
Basic understanding of the appropriate table settings, service ware, and wine and spirit
knowledge.
Bilingual; Fluent, ability to speak, read, write and understand English and Spanish
Demonstrates adherence to the resort’s safe practice procedures and makes
recommendations to improve safety. Reports any unsafe work practice to supervisor.
Utilizes proper body mechanics in performance of responsibilities, as evidenced by
supervisor’s observation and no injury to self or others due to improper work habits.
Follows proper reporting procedures when injured at work. Is aware of the location of
material safety data sheets and refers to them when necessary.
