Summary of Position:

To maintain and oversee the Lifeguard, Safety & guest Activity programs. In addition, attend & implement special functions for holidays, special events and group clients.

Essential Functions:

  • Scheduling and leading lifeguard in-service per Starguard requirements. 
  • Train and certify all lifeguards per Starguard standards.
  • Maintain lifeguard in-service logs.
  • Ensure that lifeguards are following Arizona Grand Resort and Oasis procedures and policies.
  • Ensure that lifeguard licenses are current.
  • Implement and oversee daily lifeguard & safety program.
  • Directly responsible for in-house safety audits and maintaining safety levels set forth by Starguard and other guiding factors.
  • Continue to be on the floor with the guards when working and ensure the standards set forth by the Oasis Manager(s) and the Arizona Grand Resort are being followed.
  • Report all challenges to Oasis Manager(s) for corrective action.
  • Maintain logs and records of Certification and ensure all staff meet the requirements set forth by Starguard.
  • Assist Oasis Manager(s) with tasks and activities. 

Supportive Functions:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position will be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions. The allotment of time for performing each function is to be solely determined by the supervisor based on the particular requirements of the resort.

  • Perform lifeguard and Pool Attendant position responsibilities as necessary. 
  • Seven day/week availability as needed and scheduled. Early to late hours as needed.
  • Be flexible and knowledgeable in all areas of the Oasis and Recreation Program and able to perform the required duties without hesitation. 

Specific Job Knowledge, Skill & Ability: 

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of people some of whom will require a great deal of patience and tact.
  • Ability to stand in extreme hot and cold weather for duration of shift.
  • Ability to communicate effectively using the English Language.
  • Ability to perform same task effectively, over an extended period of time.

Qualifications:

Education: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Experience: Previous Lifeguard Experience/Lifeguard Training Experience/Public or Private Waterpark Management Experience 

Certificates or Licenses: Starguard Trainer Certification. Must be CPR certified and first aid certified. All certifications must be current.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Recreation and aquatics background helpful.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of people.

Personal Characteristics:

  • Behaves ethically.
  • Communicates effectively: Speaks and listens in a clear, thorough, and timely manner, effectively reading and writing, using the English language.
  • Professional Appearance: Exhibits an appearance appropriate for a four diamond resort (Specific grooming standards are available for review).
