Hotel Barriere Fouquet's– NYC is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Purchaser who will

supervise the purchase of goods and materials required by the hotel in adherence to policy and with cost

reduction and profitability in mind. The ideal candidate will buy products that are essential for our

company’s day-to-day operations and review prices and quality and ensure optimal stock levels. This

position reports directly to the Director of Finance.

The Responsibilities:

● Compile requests for materials, prepare purchase orders, keep track of purchases and supplies, and

handle inquiries about orders

● Monitor vendors for quality, service and price through standard purchasing specifications.

● Obtain competitive quotations for hotel requirements and ensure that the best product is sourced

and purchased.

● Review shipments to ensure products received are consistent with orders and proper grade and

quality

● Interact with vendors and contractors to places orders for goods and/or services via email, internet

or phone

● Calculate figures for food inventories, orders, and costs

● Maintain an internal database of vendors, quantities, prices, etc

● Maintain updated records of purchased products, delivery information, and invoices

● Communicate daily to Chef any information that affects product quality, pricing or availability so

that menus can be adjusted accordingly

● Oversee and assist in unloading, receiving, sorting, stocking, securing, and distributing goods on

occasion

● Responsible for interacting with internal customer which includes property visits on a scheduled

basis

● Ensure all departments have adequate supplies to perform their duties in an efficient and effective

manner

● Perform inventory counts on a regular basis, inputting inventory counts into the food management

database and works with accounting to reconcile counts if there are questions

● Use food inventory management database to track food and beverages ordered, amounts used,

and costs.

● Code invoices, forward to finance for processing of vendor payment and reconcile invoices

weekly and/or monthly.

● Coordinate the delivery and ensure receipt of food and beverage products and supplies

Position Requirements:

● Three to four years related experience in purchasing and procurement is required

● Strong financial knowledge and ability to work with budgets

● Computer literate, with good Google Suite skills, MS Excel skills, and other Microsoft Office

skills

● Previous experience in the Hospitality industry is preferred

● Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritize,

organize and follow-up; be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good

judgment; follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest's service needs; work cohesively with

co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality of guest

and associate information and pertinent hotel data


Position requires prolonged sitting, walking, standing, climbing, kneeling, twisting, repetitive use of hands, simple and power grasping with hands, pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
