Summary of Position:

The Assistant Director of Financial Reporting, is responsible for a variety of Accounting disciplines in a Shared Service environment.  This includes assisting the DOF in directing the financial activities of each business entity, safeguarding the assets, and preparing all financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.  This position is a direct support to the Director of Finance.

Essential Functions:

  1. Complete Daily Bank Reconciliations.
  2. Complete Daily Sales Reporting.
  3. Complete month end journal entries and prepare G/L for financial reports.
  4. Prepare supporting worksheets for assets and liability accounts.
  5. Ensure the accuracy of Revenue and Expense Postings in the General Ledger.
  6. Reconcile Expense Checkbooks with General Ledger.
  7. Assist with inventory calculations and verifications as required.
  8. Complete monthly general ledger and bank reconciliations.
  9. Preparation of accurate and timely monthly financial statements.
  10. Ensure a timely month-end close.
  11. Assist with special reporting and analysis projects.
  12. Maintain all contracts, leases and other legal and financial records.
  13. Responsible for timely review and renewal of all operating licenses and permits.
  14. Obtain and maintain service vendor Certificates of Insurance to mitigate risk.
  15. Process and complete Vendor Credit Applications.
  16. Reconcile taxes and prepare Sales Tax Returns for City & State and ensure tax compliance.
  17. Develop and maintain internal controls in all departments.
  18. Assist with Department Head requests.
  19. Assist with ongoing financial training efforts throughout the Resort.
  20. Assist with routine supervision and support of Accounting staff and operations.
  21. Attend and conduct meetings as required both within the department and within the Resort’s organization structure.
  22. Assist with other daily and monthly accounting functions as required.
  23. Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards.
  24. Other tasks as assigned by the Director of Finance, the Regional Director of Finance and the General Manager.
  25. Other Duties:
    1. Maintain high level of accuracy through proper monitoring and efficient review of daily/monthly activities of the property.
    2. Support Department Heads with managing their individual business units by providing timely, accurate and useful information.
    3. Support DOF in company growth opportunities.

Qualifications:

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration, preferred

Experience:   Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of accounting managerial experience preferably in hotel accounting environment

Certificates or Licenses:  N/A

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

+ Strong technical knowledge of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll functions.

+ Ability to utilize computer software and hardware required.  Experience with SMS Property Management, Aloha, ADP, Paylocity, Delphi and Sage software preferred.

+ Must be a team builder who has a history of attracting, retaining and motivating staff.

+ Excellent in verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

+ Ability to listen, effectively accomplish task, and speak clearly.
