The RESTAURANT LEAD HOST / HOSTESS (Full-time) is responsible to facilitate seating and reservations for the restaurant, and to provide a gracious initial contact for arriving guests. To provide general supervision of Splashes service staff to ensure service standards in the restaurant.

The expected base wage range for this position is: $20 per hour. This position may be eligible for additional compensation according to the Company's policies, as they may be amended from time to time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, include but not limited to:

  • To understand and respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner, deferring to the Restaurant Manager when necessary to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • To extend a courteous, friendly, and professional greeting to guests as they arrive, and to thank them as they depart.
  • To make the Restaurant Manager aware of all guest comments and complaints.
  • To be aware, at all times, of current house count, visiting VIP's, and hotel functions, in order to provide personalized service to guests.
  • To provide prompt, efficient, and gracious service, in person or over the telephone, including making restaurant reservations, greeting guests with salutations, seating guests as they arrive, providing menus, and responding to all requests for information regarding the restaurant and hotel.
  • To oversee and ensure continuity of service in the dining room, including assisting service staff, as necessary.
  • To ensure proper rotation of service stations when seating guests.
  • To ensure the cleanliness and good condition of all menus, check presenters and wine lists used during each shift.
  • To maintain accuracy of all current menus.
  • To continuously communicate to Front-of-the House and Back-of-the-House management.
  • To ensure efficient and professional flow of service between kitchen and dining room.
  • To inform staff of various hotel functions to enable them to provide personalized service to restaurant guests.
  • To assist manager with making weekly schedules for hosts.
  • To review all parties prior to seating, highlighting and communicating special occasions.
  • To organize and coordinate large party bookings with the assistance of restaurant management.
  • To requisition from Purchasing, as directed, any storeroom items that need to be replenished for host stand.
  • To properly and accurately record covers, staffing, service flow, and guest comments in Open Table.
  • To assist with employee performance reviews and documentation for hosts/hostesses.
  • To ensure cleanliness and maintenance of host area.
  • To assist with training of all SOP’s for both new and existing employees.
  • To assist management in training of all new hires and refresh training of existing hires.
  • To participate, upon request, in Splashes management meetings and help organize quarterly restaurant meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent required. English fluency required. Previous hotel restaurant experience preferred. Familiar with proper etiquette of seating and salutations. Basic knowledge of foods, service standards, and procedures. Must display knowledge of currently accepted business phone etiquette. Open Table certification required.

Strong verbal communications skills. Courteous, friendly, and professional manner. Good team player. Customer service focus. Able to work productively with little supervision. Trustworthy and reliable.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Stands and walks short distances throughout shift. Frequent use of stairs, daily. Heavy use of phones, daily. Must be able to work well under pressure. Fast-paced work environment. Guest facing position that may handle conflict and/or encounter individuals who may be upset and emotional at times.

TRAVEL: This position is not expected to travel for work.
