The OUTLETS SUPERVISOR is responsible to supervise and ensure completion of assigned duties of Lobby Bar and adjoining terrace, coffee shop and Pool & Beach (jointly called “Outlets”), maintaining the highest standards. To assist managing teams in a positive atmosphere, efficient operations and providing memorable guest experience.

The expected base wage range for this position is: $24.50 per hour. This position may be eligible for additional compensation according to the Company's policies, as they may be amended from time to time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • To understand and respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner, deferring to the Outlets Manager, to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • To extend a courteous, friendly, and professional demeanor with all guests, including greeting them as they arrive and thanking them as they depart.
  • To continuously interact with guests to ensure employees are following through with given tasks and guests are well taken care of.
  • To work hands-on alongside staff in department to promptly assist as needed.
  • To assist in scheduling, and training; to and support all staff directly accountable to his/her position.
  • Hold staff accountable for tasks and job performance. 
  • To maintain highest possible levels of employee morale and department productivity. To assist in creation of tools and processes to that extent.
  • To hire, train, schedule, support, review, discipline, and terminate employees directly accountable to his/her position, to maintain highest possible levels of employee morale and department productivity.
  • To follow policies and procedures, including service style, to ensure professional standards of operation.
  • To demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the company's diverse food and beverage selections (including plating/garnish/glassware).
  • To train the team in thorough understanding of food and beverage offerings, while focusing on effective salesmanship.
  • To defer to the Outlets Manager for approval with information regarding employee reviews, discipline, and possible termination of employees.
  • To control beverage inventory, variety, and cost to maintain adequate supply, quality, and profitability.
  • To maintain adequate inventory of all necessary supplies and equipment.
  • To ensure strict policy regarding usage of the Pool deck by registered guests only; to use electronic devices, provided by Surf and Sand, as well as timing of guests leaving chairs unattended.
  • To satisfactorily complete daily paperwork, as required, including checklists, logs and reports.
  • To follow specified procedures in opening and closing duties for outlets according to department SOP’s.
  • To ensure the posting of schedules for all outlets staff, on a weekly basis.
  • To continuously communicate with fellow Supervisors and Managers to ensure efficient and professional department standards service in the restaurant.
  • To inform staff of various hotel functions, to enable them to provide personalized service to restaurant guests.
  • To be proficient in all aspects of the department including, but not limited to, Serving, Food Running, and Attending.
  • To ensure the posting of schedules for all Pool and Beach staff, on a weekly basis.
  • To ensure that established service and aesthetic standards are maintained in the pool and beach areas, at all times.
  • To continually monitor and control departmental expenditures to ensure meeting operational standards while maintaining annual budget.
  • To follow all specified procedures to correctly handle all cash, including maintaining adequate cash amount in bank; giving correct change for cash transactions; ringing all drinks through the Micros system; and accurately processing credit cards, room charges, and House Accounts.
  • To accurately manage end of shift reporting in Micros, along with following cash drop procedures.
  • To conduct departmental safety training for all new Coffee Shop employees, before they begin to work.
  • To conduct regular departmental operations, completing Safety and Sanitation weekly line-ups and turning in on time.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent required. English fluency required. Must have minimum one year of experience in Food & Beverage Department of hotel industry, including at least six months in supervisory position. Familiar with OSHA, SB198, California liquor laws, local Department of Health regulations, and relevant current laws governing handling of hazardous substances. A valid food handlers card must be timely obtained upon hire and maintained in good standing, which time and expense may be compensable. A valid California Responsible Beverage Service certification is required.

SKILLS AND APTITUDES: Demonstrated ability to train staff and ensure luxury resort customer service. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Detail oriented. Organized and efficient. Safety-minded. High quality standards for production and service. Good team player. Customer service focus. Ability to effectively manage staff to maintain a high level of morale and productivity.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Stands/walks approximately 90% of shift. Sits at desk or in meetings approximately 10% of shift. Occasionally required to handle and move objects weighing up to 40 lbs. over long distances. Must be able to work well under pressure. Must be flexible to work long, sometimes irregular hours, as needed. Frequent use of stairs, daily. Fast-paced work environment. Guest facing position that may handle conflict and/or encounter individuals who may be upset and emotional at times.

TRAVEL: This position is not expected to travel for work.
