What you will be doing

The vice President of Sales serves as HVMG's Senior Leader for Enterprise-wide direct sales functions including group rooms, catering and negotiated business travel segments. The VP of Sales will develop, implement and oversee the execution of the company's direct sales effort at both the property and above property level. Central to this role will be developing topline revenue strategies with operational vice presidents, general managers, directors of sales, revenue management and marketing teams. The position will require sales expertise and a proven track record working with major hotel brands including Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, IHG and Independent hotels. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversight of and accountability for group, BT and catering sales key performance indicators.  Specifically:  RevPAR Index, group pace, sales team performance vs. goal, individual salesperson performance vs. goal. 
  • Lead, review and endorse Revenue Excellence SOPs for sales and drive accountability around action plans that deliver sales KPIs.
  • Develop, enhance and implement field sales SOPs including sales guidelines, daily business reviews, BT pricing and process, sales systems optimization. 
  • Coach, mentor, motivate  and drive sales excellence with regional teams and property sales teams.
  • Review & endorse annual sales and marketing budgets and supporting sales goals.
  • Establish, implement and monitor sales systems best practices and usage standards (i.e. Delphi, Envision, CI/TY, STS, etc)
  • Establish and lead sales training and development program.
  • Lead sales incentive and recognition program.
  • Partner with digital marketing team and revenue management to maximize and optimize all revenue opportunities.
  • Host/facilitate periodic meeting (virtual and in person) with field-based sales leaders and GM’s to review best demonstrated practices and topline sales initiatives.
  • Strategic engagement with brands leadership, owners and investors in matters relating to group, BT or catering sales performance. 
  • Audit and approve property promotional material in conjunction with digital marketing team.
  • Ensure proper staffing and deployment of all sales teams and related positions.
  • Provide input and guidance on sales talent hiring, training and planning.
  • Ensure properties are complying with and fully activating brand tools.
  • Review all sales leadership hires and participate in hiring process when appropriate.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in Hotel Management, Business, marketing, or a relevant field of work, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
  • A minimum of 10+ years in a hotel in a similar role is required with a proven track record of delivering superior results. 
  • Experience with RMS, CRS, PMS and sales systems within branded as well as independent hotel environments.
  • Ability to travel approximately 70%.
