Under general supervision from the Manager, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Operations, the Supervisor, EMS oversees the day-to-day operations of the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) staff, responds to emergency and non-emergency calls in and around the Yaamava’ Resort & Casino (YRC) and delivers high quality patient care and customer service within the prescribed scope of practice, established protocols, and tribal policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides direct EMT supervision including coordination and maintenance of EMT scheduling. 2. Investigates complaints and procedural or process concerns and directs the resolution of emergency medical performance issues.3. Administers emergency medical care to treat patients; performs Basic Life Support (BLS); assist paramedics with Advance Life Support (ALS) protocols and provides courteous and expeditious customer service to the general public, employees and Tribal Citizens. 4. Assists in the coordination of maintenance and care of EMS treatment rooms and equipment.5. Provides training in areas of CPR and First Aid.6. Assists in specification, acquisition and budgeting of equipment and supplies.7. Completes confidential reports and documentation on EMS care, patient assessments, and risk management reports.8. Advises the Fire Chief, Medical Director, and EMS Manager on EMS matters related to the Casino.9. Manages program where EMT staff inspect, audit, restock, and maintain facility defibrillators and first aid kits.10. Works 12-Hour shifts and overtime; may be recalled or held on duty according to the response needs of the department.11. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing, and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Makes hiring decisions and designs individual development plans with succession planning in mind for all key roles.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors of Arts in EMS, Fire Science or related field is required.
Minimum three (3) years of experience in the field of Emergency Medical Service patient care is required.
Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)
Principles and practices of emergency medical care.
Operation and maintenance of emergency medical equipment.
Safety practices and precautions pertaining to work.
Basic knowledge of computers and programs to include MS Office, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Read, understand, and draft departmental policies, rules, regulations, instructions, and literature as it pertains to emergency medical care.
Communicates clearly and concisely in English, both orally and in writing, with proper spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Ability to operate a two-way radio to communicate with the communications center.
Analyze situations and adopt a quick, effective and responsible course of action.
Make presentations to a variety of groups.
Work effectively with other employees and the public.
Understand and carry out oral and written instructions and explain them to others.
Maintain confidential information.
REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS
At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
Required:
EMT-I (Must be valid in State of California).
Current AHA CPR Healthcare Provider or equivalent.
ICS 100-Introduction to ICS.
ICS 200-Basic ICS.
IS 700 NIMS: An Introduction.
IS 800 The National Response Plan.
Hazardous Materials First Responder Awareness (CSTI or equivalent).
Accredited First Aid Instructor (within 1 year of employment).
Current American Heart Association CPR Instructor (within 1 year of employment).
Preferred:
Experience working as an EMT at Special Events.
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Designated Infection Control Officer Training.

Authorized Driver: Role requires operation or driving of Tribe-owned vehicles or driving patron vehicles. A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the insurance carrier is required.
