BASIC FUNCTION: The Engineering team member is responsible for supervising, developing and maintaining the physical structure as well as mechanical & operating systems of the hotel in the continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational or technical training preferred
- 2+ years of progressive experience in a maintenance position in hotel
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools
- Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary
- Must be hands-on with the daily maintenance of the hotel
- Ability to attend to guests, team members and management in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner which requires strong customer service as well as written and oral communication skills
- Must be able to speak, read, write and communicate in English to adequately perform the duties of the job
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills
- Must be energetic, a self-starter, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Positive, outgoing and self-motivating individual with pleasant personality
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage the basic sanitation requirements/controls and applications of relevant chemicals.
- Maintains emergency procedures and equipment and assists with the implementation of emergency procedures for the safety of guests and employees
- Keep up to date with developments in all maintenance functions, including but not limited to, HVAC, Mechanical/Electrical, Plumbing, Refrigeration, Drywall / Tile, Chillers, Boilers and basic construction.
- Ensures timely response to maintenance requests for services by guests, employees and management with the goal of keeping the maximum number of rooms available for occupancy.
- Communicate both verbally and in writing, with employees, guests and management in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
- Perform duties, special assignments and projects as requested by management.
ENVIRONMENT:
Works in all areas of the property, both inside and outside possibly in inclement weather. Must be able to work at various heights on ladders, roofs, etc. Some work may be in confined spaces.
