Key Responsibilities

The Gallery Host Team Lead at Hyatt Place Ottawa West plays a crucial role in supporting the Gallery Host Manager by leading and supervising the Gallery Host Team. This position involves overseeing daily operations of the Front Office and dining establishments, ensuring exceptional customer service, and guiding team members to achieve excellence. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership abilities, uphold integrity, and foster a collaborative environment while advocating for sound financial and business decisions. A successful candidate must be willing to “pitch-in” and help coworkers with their job duties and be a team player regardless of department.

Customer Service Excellence

• Deliver services that exceed guest expectations, promoting customer satisfaction and retention.
• Enhance service quality by effectively communicating with guests, providing feedback, and offering individual coaching to team members.
• Address and resolve guest problems and complaints in a professional manner.
• Set a positive example in guest relations and empower employees to deliver exceptional customer service.
• Monitor and observe employee service behaviors, providing constructive feedback to individuals and department heads.
• Gather and act upon guest feedback regarding product quality, service levels, and overall satisfaction.
• Ensure employees are well-informed about customer service expectations and standards.
• Emphasize the importance of guest satisfaction during all departmental meetings and activities.

Leadership and Team Management

• Support the Gallery Host Manager in leading, influencing, and encouraging team members.
• Demonstrate honesty and integrity while leading by example.
• Foster mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
• Serve as a role model by demonstrating appropriate behaviors and encouraging similar conduct from the team.
• Supervise, manage, and provide guidance to employees; be capable of performing their duties in their absence.
• Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships with employees, ensuring that they do the same within the team.
• Oversee all areas of the Front Office in the absence of the Gallery Host Manager.
• Manage operations of both the Front Office and dining establishments, ensuring smooth and efficient service.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Previous Customer Service Experience (Hotel preferred).
• Smart Serve Certified.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Strong Written and oral grasp of the English Language (Bilingualism is an asset).
• Ability to Lift, pull and push moderate weight (min 20lbs).
• Must possess basic computer skills including word, excel.
• Schedule flexibility AM, PM, Weekends and Holidays.
• Previous experience in Front Office and Food & Beverage is beneficial.
• An understanding of Opera or other Hyatt Operating systems is ideal.
