Summary

The Houseperson is responsible for providing guest room attendants with materials and amenities, removing dirty linens from rooms/hallways and performing other duties as required. The Houseperson performs other duties related to housekeeping.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Complies with all department and property operating policies and procedures.
  • Maintains cleanliness of assigned areas.
  • Properly stocks housekeeping carts and closets with necessary supplies, materials and amenities.
  • Ensures all equipment is used and maintained in accordance with proper procedures.
  • Adheres to all safety guidelines including the use of protective equipment.
  • Uses chemicals in a proper, safe and responsible manner.
  • Exhibits a cooperative demeanor when interacting with peers, supervisors and guests.
  • Performs duties in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintains proper pars and stock levels.
  • Delivers to guest room attendants necessary supplies on an as needed basis.
  • Provides guest room attendants with materials and amenities to properly clean guest rooms.
  • Removes dirty linens, terry and towels from rooms and hallways.
  • Maintains clean and organized work area, carts, equipment and supplies.
  • Communicates problems, challenges or unusual matters of significance to supervisor.
  • Informs supervision of needed support, supplies or repairs.
  • Completes maintenance work orders to be issued to management.
  • Supports and complies with courtesy and customer service guidelines policies and procedures.
  • Acknowledges and communicates with staff and guests.
  • Accurately completes assigned daily paperwork.
  • Ensures all storage areas and carts are clean and organized.
  • Works closely with other employees. May be required to assist other departments within the division.
  • Maintain a professional appearance reflective of the hotel image and conduct behavior in a mature and professional manner.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Up to one month related experience or training less than high school education; or equivalent combination of experience and education. Ability to remain calm and poised under pressure. Strong work ethic with a hands-on approach. Ensures safety and security policies and procedures are followed. Good time management, organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent attention to detail a must. Highly motivated, energetic and quality oriented.

Age Requirement

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

This position requires employee to spend a great deal of time indoors and may be regularly assigned work in a smoke filled environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
