Job Title: Bartender
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Overview: Bartenders are responsible for serving guests in the bar by taking & serving food & beverage orders while ensuring to check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol.
Reports to: Food & Beverage Management
Duties and Responsibilities:
Greet guests, take food and beverage orders, prepare drink orders for the bar, and restaurant
Maintain stock, supplies, and cleanliness of outlet and equipment
Have thorough working knowledge of Micros system -- ordering, check presentation, payment processing, closing reports while reporting all tips
Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons, and drunk driving
Maintain complete knowledge of all liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic selections, glassware and garnishes in the restaurant and all menu items (including daily specials), prices, preparation method/time, major ingredients, and quality standards of taste, appearance, texture, serving temperature, portion size, garnish, and method of presentation
Maintain complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation, proper table set-up, and dress code of the restaurant
Obtain assigned bank and ensure accuracy of contracted monies. Keep bank secure at all times
Handle guest complaints and ensure guest satisfaction
Maintains a clean and organized work environment at all times, following all Safety and Health Department guidelines
Qualifications:
- Must have flexible schedule including availability on days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to maintain standard attendance expectation
- Previous experience as a Bartender
- Desire to grow within the hospitality industry is preferred
- Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision
- Ability to accurately compute and manipulate mathematical calculations
- Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks at once
- Knowledge of fine wines, beer, and liquor
- Alcohol awareness certification (TIPS Training) is preferred
- Knowledge of P.O.S. system, preferably Micros
- Food Handlers Certification, ServSafe Certified is preferred
- Must be able to communicate professionally in English, both written and verbal. Conversational abilities in other languages helpful
