Your Role
We are currently seeking a Line Cook to join our team and contribute to the success of Los Angeles Athletic Club by creating positive experiences for every member and guest who visits the club by preparing food and plating food dishes according to menu specifications while ensuring the kitchen is stocked with needed products and ensuring all equipment is in good working condition, and work areas are sanitized.
Key Responsibilities:
- Arrive to work on time and on task, i.e., clean uniform, hair restraint, hat, and apron.
- Check with the Chef or manager for any menu modifications or specials.
- Upon arrival inspect work area. Ensure, station is properly stocked.
- Check all food temperatures and log properly.
- Consistently prepare dishes according to approved recipes and plate according to approved presentation Prepare food items in anticipation of business fluctuation.
- Follow department food handling procedures including wearing gloves and changing them as often as required by the Health Department.
- Prepare food items efficiently and in adherence to recipes and Club standards.
- Ensure that all food is cooked or cooled to the proper temperature.
- Practices safe handling procedures when using kitchen equipment and utensils.
- Assists in the timely storing and organization of food deliveries.
- Maintains clean and organized workspace throughout shift, including but not limited to, floors and surfaces.
- Performs closing side work according to kitchen and health department standards.
- Assists in food prep and any other duties per business needs.
- Lends support to other food and beverage outlets as business dictates.
Education, licenses, & certifications:
- Required: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in same or similar positions in the Food & Beverage industry
- Ideal: Food Handlers Certification(s)
- Ideal: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
Essential qualifications:
- Required: At least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Required: Ability to obtain Food Handlers Certificate within 30 days of hire
- Required: Reliable and punctual attendance.
- Required: Excellent time-management skills; prioritizing and completing assigned job tasks effectively.
- Required: Read and write in English.
- Ideal: Bi-lingual oral, speech, and writing skills in and additional language is an asset in this position
- Required: Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Required: Communicate verbally with staff members and/or customers
- Ideal: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey messages clearly and compose correspondence with correct and proper grammar.
- Required: Strong presentation skills; convey messages clearly and confidently; persuade and effect change positively.

- Required: Demonstrated quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Physical Exertion: Heavy work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 35 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects (for example, putting away delivery, boxes for daily preparation, and pushing carts).
Compensation: Hourly $22.00 USD
