The Opportunity
Supports the Market Assistant Manager in overseeing the bakery and deli departments of the store. Participates in assessing the quality and quantities of merchandise for display. Receives and showcases stock, and aids in pricing, date coding, and rotating all bakery/deli products. Ensures friendly and courteous assistance to customers.

- Coordinate and communicate effectively with Bakery/Deli associates to ensure a seamless flow of products and services within the Bakery/Deli Department.

- Proficiently and successfully execute the fundamentals of bakery/deli operations, including safe food handling, product preparation, and packaging.
- Uphold continuous product quality, food safety, freshness, and appearance standards.
- Ensure proper merchandising of Bakery/Deli products in accordance with store policies and procedures, including accurate pricing and code dating.
- Maintain effective department security as per store policy and directives.
- Ensure that the physical appearance of the department, including selling, back room, and storage areas, complies with maintenance and sanitation standards set by the store and governmental regulatory agencies.
- Assist the department in maintaining organized records at all times.
- Properly stock and merchandise bakery/deli shelves, cases, and displays.
- Clearly and accurately price, code date, and rotate all bakery/deli products.
- Operate all bakery/deli equipment safely to prevent injuries.
- Assist in the packaging of bakery/deli products as directed.
- Receive special orders and employ suggestive selling methods when applicable.
- Handle any other projects and duties as assigned.

What Qualifies You
- One (1) year of bakery and deli production experience preferred.
- Must be Serve Safe certified or able to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
- Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.
Must Have Skills
- Attention to detail required, as well as strong team, organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to clearly explain and demonstrate concepts and skills to others.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulation.
- Ability to effectively respond to questions from groups of Associates, managers, Guests, and the public.
- Ability to work mathematical concepts and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to consult collaboratively to define problems collects data, establish facts, draw conclusions, and propose solutions.
- Ability to interpret company policies and procedures and apply them in a consistent and fair manner.
While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly required to:
- Talk and hear;
- See and adjust focus to include close, distance, color, depth, and peripheral vision;
- Stand, walk, run, sit, balance, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, and/or crawl;
- Handle objects, tools, and controls; reach with arms and hands.
- Must be able to climb a ladder to retrieve items stored in elevated or overhead racks or shelves located above refrigerated boxes, in stockrooms and other storage areas.
- Successful performance requires specific vision abilities that include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must occasionally exert or lift up to 70 pounds carrying boxes of records, bulk containers forms and other materials and frequently lift moderate amounts of weight.
- Must have sufficient memory retention skills to memorize weekly ad prices and specials.
- Must have sufficient visual acuity to check identification cards, checks, invoices, and other written documents.
- Must be able to sweep and mop floors, dust and face shelves, and lift and carry out trash containers to be emptied in an outside bin.
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to:
- A low-to-moderate noise level (offices).
- A moderate-to-loud noise level (operations areas).
- Moving mechanical and/or electrical components.
- At times may be exposed to outside weather conditions.
