We are currently looking for an Assistant General Manager. This individual will lead the staff in the proper execution of Guest Satisfaction, Front Desk, Housekeeping, and Maintenance service standards. The Assistant General Manager. Will manage performance, communicate feedback, and train the team to perform their jobs successfully. The Assistant General Manager provides effective guest service and is responsible for the entire site in the absence of the General Manager.
. Responsibilities:
- Ensures service, technical skills, and other training occur throughout the property to support successful daily operations.
- Establishes a presence with team members on the property and actively solicits team member feedback. Utilizes an “open door” policy and reviews team member engagement results to identify and address problems or concerns. Ensures team members are treated fairly and equitably.
- Hires team members who demonstrate strong functional expertise, creativity, and leadership to meet the business needs of the operation.
- Demonstrates and communicates drivers of guest satisfaction; ensures core elements of the service strategy are in place to produce the desired results.
- It is obvious and interfaces with customers regularly to obtain feedback on product quality, service levels, and overall satisfaction.
- Observes service behaviors of team members and provide feedback to individuals and supervisors. Continuously strives to improve service performance.
- Participates in sales calls and site visits with sales team members to acquire new business or close on business.
- Reviews financial reports and statements to understand the property’s performance versus budget and expenses. Works to determine areas of concern and develops strategies to improve performance.
- Coaches and supports the hotel team in managing wages and controllable expenses effectively. Strives to maintain profit margins without compromising guest or team member satisfaction.
- Manages costs within the hotel, including supplies, utilities, and labor expenses within budgeted parameters, combined with sales/revenue acumen to deliver an efficient and profitable operation.
- Monitors guest survey results and other data to identify areas of improvement. Reviews findings with the hotel team and ensure appropriate action is taken.
- Ensures that the building is well maintained and that operational areas have an atmosphere that meets or exceeds guest expectations.
- Makes decisions, oversees team performance, removes obstacles to success, and ensures adequate resources are available to achieve business results.
- Creates a synergistic team and work environment that consistently delivers positive results and continuously strives to improve these results.
- Ensures property meets franchise standards.
- Ensures the property is a safe and secure facility for guests and team members.
- Communicates and ensures execution of hotel emergency procedures.
- Assists the General Manager in all tasks.
- Familiar with and able to direct all fire, life, and safety procedures and train staff in the appropriate fire, energy, and safety procedures.
REQUIREMENTS
- FSD Certification Preferred. Must complete the requirements for certification as Hotel Fire Safety Director within the first 6-8 months of employment. (Classes and certifications paid by the employer).
- Previous hotel Management experience with proven success in the leadership of teams.
- 3+ years of management experience in the Front Office and Housekeeping.
- Proven success in guest service results.
- A hospitality management degree is a plus.
- Strong financial knowledge is required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and OnQ preferred.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Drive for Results demonstrated through successful performance in prior leadership positions.
- Time management skills to meet commitments across multiple departments and roles.

* For applicants working in NYC, the anticipated compensation range for the position is $100 - 120K per year. The salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on several factors, including but not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, etc.
