Resort Maintenance Apprentice

The Vacation Myrtle Beach resort group has created a new and exciting position of Resort Maintenance Apprentice for individuals looking for a start to a career in resort maintenance leadership but lack the experience to find their way to start in that direction.  The right person for this role has a natural ability to work with their hands repairing things and is quick to learn and will have the opportunity to gain experience to grow their abilities in that area.  We are looking for a professional and determined person who enjoys serving others to make sure that we serve our company vision:  To give our guests the most exciting, fun-filled, and enjoyable vacation experience ever!  

While some skills are useful to currently possess, the following skills and attributes will be necessary to learn throughout employment in our apprentice program and will lead to growth into resort leadership:

1.         High standard for the quality of work performed

2.         Understanding life safety and emergency systems

3.         Basic repair of furnishings, fixtures, and equipment

4.         Painting, sheetrock maintenance, and other wall covering maintenance

5.         Preventive maintenance procedures and processes

6.         Inspections on building (backflow inspections, elevator, fire pumps , as well as the inspection of rooms by learning what to look for

7.         Swimming pool operation

8.         Landscaping and irrigation

9.         Understanding of plumbing and ability to perform certain plumbing tasks

10.       Light electrical work and a basic understanding of electrical systems

11.       Part inventory management

12.       Clean and organized work habits

13.       Communication skills to work with the resort maintenance team and with the other departments of the resort

14.       Multitasker – person who can perform or manage many tasks at the same time.

15.       A positive and resourceful attitude that we believe we can overcome any obstacle
