The BAR BACK is to provide assistance and support to the bartender to facilitate efficient and professional bar service. 

The expected base wage range for this position is: $16 per hour, or other minimum wage applicable to the jurisdiction. This position may be eligible for additional compensation according to the Company's policies, as they may be amended from time to time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• To understand and respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner, deferring to the Restaurant Manager when necessary to ensure customer satisfaction.
• To extend a courteous, friendly, and professional greeting to guests as they arrive, and to thank them as they depart.
• To make the manager aware of all guest comments and complaints.
• To assist, as directed, to provide properly mixed cocktails and other beverages to the Cocktail Waitress, and hotel bar guests.
• To assist, as directed, to properly open and close the bar, including handling bar keys, and performing all necessary set-up work.
• To be responsible for the security of beverage stock, while on duty.
• To perform routine support tasks during service, including restocking beverage and bar supplies; assisting to clear and reset tables; cleaning glassware; emptying trash; and cleaning the back bar.
• To retrieve supplies and linen requisitions, daily.
• To maintain the proper care and cleanliness of tableware and serving equipment, handling both to minimize breakage.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent required.  English fluency required.  Must have minimum three months of experience in similar experience.  Must know fundamentals of beverage mixing, inventory and pars, and glass types and uses.  Must be familiar with California liquor laws. A valid food handlers card must be timely obtained upon hire and maintained in good standing, which time and expense may be compensable. A valid California Responsible Beverage Service certification is required. Experience with Micros computer systems preferred. Current CPR certification preferred.  Hotel experience preferred.

Courteous, friendly, and professional manner. Good team player. Customer service focus. Able to work productively with little supervision. Trustworthy and reliable. 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Stands and walks short distances throughout shift. Bends, stoops, reaches, pushes, and lifts to perform routine tasks. Frequently required to handle and move objects weighing up to 40 lbs. over short distances. Moderate use of phones, daily. Fast-paced work environment.
