Seeking a friendly, self-motivated, and hardworking individual looking for a position in catering sales and operations. Canal St. Eatery & Market Chicago offersa full-service restaurant, Canal Street Eatery, grab n go market, Canal Street Market, and cocktail Lounge, Afterbar, all within the 320 S Canal Building in West Loop Gate. In this position you will expand your sales and catering expertise in a fast paced, professional business setting. From Happy Hours in Canal Street Eatery, to catering Lunch for 200 meeting attendees in the Conference Center, the sales coordinator will be eager to work will all types of events.

Catering of up to 200 guests on additional floors in the building.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and eagerness in learning the restaurant brand, event & catering processes, and sales strategy
  • Capture client information and ensure accurate use of sales system recording all bookings and activities
  • Communicate all required and relevant event information to clients
  • Management of leads and catering orders from inquiry to delivery. Including obtaining initial inquiry information, communication with client, internal event preparation and guest follow up.
  • Negotiate room rentals, and food & beverage minimums for events in Restaurant
  • Clearly understand and communicate Catering Menu. Curate catering invoices appropriately based on clients needs.
  • Identify and pursue new and repeat business through proactive sales, prospect calls, & networking
  • Thorough understanding of event operations
  • Willingness and ability to manage all event operations as an onsite contact.
  • Communicate Catering/Event Details and changes to internal team on a daily & weekly basis.
  • Move and lift up to 10 pounds, frequently move and/or lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally move and/or lift up to 50 pounds

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An ambitious individual with a passion for sales and customer service as well as outstanding organization, and management skills
  • Strong people skills
  • Catering, Event and/or Sales experience; analytical skills relative to impact restaurant revenues
  • Ability to manage one’s time & duties independently
  • Ability to stay calm in high stress environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Flexible schedule with ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays Hospitality and/or event operation experience,
  • Knowledge of event operations, Outlook knowledge, email correspondence
  • Basic Accounting knowledge
  • Basic Food & Beverage Service knowledge
  • Ability to perform minimal manual labor for set-up of events
