Job Description

Perform a wide range of landscaping operations that may include mowing, pruning, and trimming, installation of plant material, care of flowers and bedding plants, painting, small equipment use and safety procedures. Maintain property operations and appearance to the high standards set forth by management.

Essential Job Functions

This description is a summary of primary responsibilities and qualifications. The job description is not intended to include all duties or qualifications that may be required now or in the future. The Hotel operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week.

  • Perform all assigned landscape tasks, including, but not limited to, installation of plant material, care of flowers and bedding plants, trimming, and pruning trees.
  • Assist in painting of exterior areas.
  • Maintain all trash receptacles exteriorly around the hotel.
  • Ensures that job site staging area is clean and organized.
  • Uses all installation tools according to company safety policy.
  • Understand and perform basic construction methods and material.
  • Basic irrigation operation and repair, i.e., drip systems, pipe repair and head repair.
  • Operate small equipment, i.e., blowers, string trimmers, pressure washing and pool vacuums.
  • Supplement Maintenance crews on special projects or with daily activities as needed.
  • Complies with company safety policy at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Operations Manager.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in grounds keeping/maintenance preferred.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Most work is performed outdoors. There is no effective protection from weather.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other locations of the hotel and hotel grounds on a timely basis.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other locations of the hotel on a timely basis.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
  • Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis and up to 100 lbs. on occasions.
  • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout to be heard above the ambient noise level.
  • The worker is subject to vibration: Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.
  • The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
  • Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
