Banquet Server

The Banquet Server is responsible for serving food in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner to guests of the hotel, thereby enhancing the positive guest experience.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides professional and courteous guest service at all times
• Maintains standards of food, beverage, and guest service quality
• Greets guests
• Maintains a clean work and storage area including reading and understanding MSDS
• Assists in set-up, cleaning, and refreshing of function rooms

Additional Duties

• Completes all side work as assigned
• Attends department meetings
• Completes projects as determined by Banquet Captain or Director of Food and Beverage
• Participates in ongoing education and training of Franchise and Hotel Management Company

Minimum Qualifications

• Education or Experience- No high school diploma required; or one month related hospitality experience and/or training; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of computer
• Language Skills- Must have developed language skills to the point to be able to: read and comprehend instructions, safety rules, and memos. Speak clearly, distinctly, and with confidence using appropriate pauses, emphasis, correct English, and punctuation. 
• Mathematical Skills- none required
• Reasoning Ability Must have developed reasoning skills to be able to: apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to professionally deal with problems in standardized situations
• Customer Service:Displays a professional sense of urgency whencommunicating and interacting with customers, coworkers, and the public in a way that exceeds the customer’s wants and needs.  Identifies opportunities to improve and deliver additional value to customer’s experience by presenting creative solutions and innovative ideas.
• Communication: Actively listens to customers, coworkers, and the public (viewing the situation from the customer’s perspective) and works together to solve the problem through effective communication.
• Problem Solving: Ability to recognize and define problems; analyze relevant information; encourage alternative solutions and plans to resolve situations; seeks additional assistance when needed.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to pass physical exam, and background check
• Requires walking and standing to a significant degree, reaching, handling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, hearing, and seeing 
• Lifting up to 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying or transporting of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
• Inside environmental conditions protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.  Exposure to extremes of exterior temperature changes and noise:

Temperature Changes: Variations in temperature, which are sufficiently high or low to cause marked bodily discomfort including exterior cold, heat, humid, and wet conditions

Noise: Sufficient noise such as music, either constant or intermittent, to cause marked distraction or possible injury to the sense of hearing if endured day after day
