About The Opportunity

Practice Hospitality is seeking an experienced Bartender for a new restaurant in downtown Colorado Springs. This will be affiliated with the Mining Exchange Hotel but positioned independently as a freestanding restaurant concept.

About The Hotel

Mining Exchange Hotel was built in 1902 as a stock exchange for local mining companies, The Mining Exchange Hotel offers a one-of-a-kind experience in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs. Our elegant, yet casual public spaces, and guestrooms are all newly renovated.

Job Role

At Practice Hospitality, the Bartender provides friendly and responsive service to all guests, ensuring a fun and safe environment. The Bartender prepares cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages, has knowledge of common drinks, and makes suggestions to guests. The Bartender also monitors inventory and takes appropriate action to re-stock as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Serves customers alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages including beer, wine, cocktails, juices, etc.
  • Prepares garnishes and mixes drinks for guests according to recipes
  • Assess customer needs and preferences and make recommendations
  • Maintain attractive and orderly appearance of bar area through arrangement of bottles & glassware
  • Ensure bar area adheres to highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and service
  • Prepares, cleans, and maintains draught beer equipment; connects couplings to beer barrels and to faucet
  • Responsible for ensuring a safe and secure bar area by enforcing standards and procedures for alcohol consumption; comply with all legal regulations
  • Monitor customers’ alcohol consumption and refuse service and/or call for alternate transportation as necessary
  • Maintain supplies via ordering, requisitioning, or re-stocking snacks, liquors, beers, wines, and non-alcoholic beverages; replace kegs/beer barrels; prepare garnishes
  • Enhance skillset and knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; stay abreast of industry trends; experiment with new cocktail recipes
  • Perform cash-handling functions, including point-of-sale (POS) system, registers, and daily reporting
  • Locks up and stores all beverage, food and other equipment items, deposits cash drops and secures bank.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Must be flexible regarding scheduling based on business demands
  • Bartending work experience required. Guest relations/service experience preferred
  • Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages.
  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes. Basic English language writing skills necessary for completion of requisitions, balance sheets and vouchers.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock.
  • Projects professional image that inspires trust and confidence
  • Able to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to read, speak and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and take orders.
  • Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard and point of sale procedures to pre-check an order and close out a check.
  • Ability to work stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time.
