About the Role

As the Director of Housekeeping, you will mentor and guide our dedicated TEAM to ensure exceptional guest service and cleanliness. You will oversee the hotel's housekeeping operations, ensuring the team meets business objectives while delivering outstanding service and performance. 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in a brand or luxury hotel
  • Previous relevant experience is required; bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, proper storage, and disposal methods
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as necessary

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Supervise the daily activities of supervisors, staff, and others to ensure work is completed on time and to standard.
  • Conduct interviews and select staff for open positions.
  • Design and deliver on-the-job training to ensure brand compliance among subordinates. 
  • Perform routine rounds, checking all areas to maintain hotel standards and addressing any issues promptly.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for routine tasks to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Review, approve, and analyze the housekeeping budget regularly to ensure responsible fund management and plan for future budgets.  
  • Manage cleaning, chemicals, guest supplies, linens, and other materials inventory to control expenses and minimize waste.
  • Involve employees in planning and optimizing the use of manpower, mechanical aids, and products to simplify tasks.
  • Monitor housekeeping equipment to ensure proper use and reduce costs and breakage. 
  • Oversee the physical condition of rooms to maintain high standards of room appearance.
  • Establish systems for Linen/Uniform Room and Laundry to ensure high-quality laundry services for guests and staff uniforms.
  • Create and implement employee schedules that align with business needs while managing department payroll. 
  • Train and develop staff to foster personal and professional growth.
  • Perform annual evaluations and recommend pay increases based on performance.
  • Monitor and enforce brand service standards and training compliance. Address any performance issues through appropriate discipline or counseling. 
  • Manage labor costs and ensure that the department operations stay within budget guidelines.
  • Maintain guest service scores and work towards achieving high opinion survey ratings.
  • Work independently to carry out the responsibilities above and any additional duties requested by management.
  • Ensure staff adherence to house rules and departmental regulations and maintain morale through positive leadership and discipline. 
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration within the department and with other hotel departments. 
  • Implement and oversee Lost & Found procedures.
  • Work closely with the Engineering Department to expedite repairs or special requests for maintenance, events, or other hotel needs.
