Position Purpose

This is a dual role responsible for a) the receipt, verification, and processing of all goods delivered to and received by the hotel and b) for the Employee Cafeteria during Employee lunch hours (10:45am 1:15pm). The schedule generally will be Monday Friday,8 AM until 4:30 PM with a 30-minute unpaid meal break.

Essential Functions

  • Process the receipt of all goods for the hotel and guest packages according to Hotel policies and procedures.
  • Verify count and condition of all hotel orders delivered against approved purchase orders.
  • Maintain detailed and up to date log of deliveries and signatures when picked-up.
  • Store and organize received goods according to Hotel standards and State Health Codes.
  • Communicate with pertinent departments when orders arrive.
  • Transport and set up Employee lunch buffet in Employee Cafeteria daily at 10:45am for lunch beginning at 11 AM.
  • Monitor food temperatures, ensuring food stays within required temperatures according to State Health Codes.
  • Monitor food levels, communicating with chefs and replenishing, when necessary, from 10:45am1:00 pm.
  • Break down Employee lunch buffet at 1:15pm, remove dishes and clean area to Hotel standards.
  • Practice safe Food Handling Procedures- will require certification paid by Hotel
  • Practice proper lifting procedures and safe handling of equipment.
  • Practice security procedures to limit loss or damage of goods.
  • Maintain general cleanliness and organization of the dock area, in accordance with The Hotel standards and Health Codes.
  • Additional duties as identified and assigned by management.

Supportive Functions

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.

  • Read group resumes to anticipate group receiving needs prior to arrival.
  • Keep receiving dock and office clean and orderly throughout the day.
  • Maintain inventory of operating supplies (office and shipping).
  • Additional duties as necessary and assigned.

Specific Job Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • Must be able to speak, understand, read and write in English. Knowing Spanish may be a plus.
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must possess basic computational ability.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
Physical Demands
  • Most work tasks are performed indoors, however, unloading may require outdoor work where exposure to cold and warm temperatures may occur. Putting away food in refrigerators and freezers in the kitchen may be part of the job.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 6 hours in length.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the hotel on a timely basis.
  • Must have the ability to bend, squat and lift up to 60 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Must have the ability to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
  • Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, calculators, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, FAX machines, photocopiers, dolly and other office equipment as needed.

Qualification Standards

Education

High school or equivalent education required.

Experience

Shipping and/or receiving experience preferred, but not required

Licenses or Certificates

Must have/maintain current Food Handlers Permit. Note: Hotel will facilitate and pay for.

Grooming

All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per hotel standards and hotel may require uniforms which would be provided.
