Reports to the Director, HRIS and Operations. The Manager, HRIS oversees the daily maintenance, data accuracy, project execution, and enhancement of San Manuel’s HR technology infrastructure and Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) platform. This dynamic role involves leading a skilled HRIS technology team and partnering with stakeholders across all HR functions and business units. By harnessing innovation and technology, the Manager, HRIS will navigate challenges, drive operational improvements, and cultivate a modern, engaged, and efficient workplace.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.    System & Project Management: Oversees the implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of the Workday HCM platform, along with all other relevant HR technology platforms. Plans and manages HRIS projects and roadmaps, coordinating with all internal and external stakeholders.2.    Collaboration: Works closely with HR leaders, subject matter experts across HR subdisciplines, and other departments to align system configurations with organizational objectives and aspirations. Functional Areas include but are not limited to Core HCM, Benefits, Compensation, Absence, Security, Talent and Performance, Learning, Recruiting, Reporting and Integrations. Engages with end users and super users to understand their challenges/needs, and deliver seamless user experiences.3.    System & Data Governance: Conducts system and process change readiness reviews to ensure fixes/enhancements are deployed per requirements. Manages change control documentation and ensure data security policies are observed and enforced.4.    Vendor and Contract Management: Administers HRIS vendors, contracts, budgets and plan resources based on needs, objectives, and timelines.  Oversees deliverables of vendors for quality assurance and seamless/on-time service delivery.  Fosters relationships with current, former, and new vendors to secure the best expertise, best-in-class products, and best terms/price.5.    Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Makes hiring decisions and designs individual development plans with succession planning in mind for all key roles.

 EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business and/or Management Information Systems is required.  

  • Minimum eight (8) years of Human Resources Experience required.

  • Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience leading HR or HRIS team required.

  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive Workday HCM system management experience required.

  • Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

  • Must be knowledgeable in all functional human resources disciplines.

  • Experience implementing systems (preferably Workday), designing processes, project managing, business analysis, and managing customers a must.

  • Individual with exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as excellent active listening skills.

  • Exceptional time management skills and an ability to handle multiple competing priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities; system thinker with strong attention to detail.

  • Able to be flexible, deal with extreme complexity, self-driven, and able to succeed in an ambiguous environment.

  • Continually share best practices with the team with a positive, client-focused mindset.

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS

  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.

  • Select One of the Following:

    • ☐ Authorized Driver: Role requires operation or driving of Tribe-owned vehicles or driving patron vehicles. A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the insurance carrier is required.

    • ☐ Driving Responsibilities: Role requires regular commuting between locations. A valid driver's license and vehicle insurance with minimum liability limits is required. Role will not operate or drive Tribe-owned vehicles or patron vehicles.

    • ☒ No Driving Responsibilities: Role does not require a driver’s license or insurance.

  • Workday Pro-Certification required.
