Who you are: 

The Busperson/ Server Assistant is responsible for ensuring that every guest enjoys their visit and leaves with a memorable and lasting impression.  You always put the guest first by assisting the serving and bartending team with the delivery of food, restocking service tools and maintaining table and dining room cleanliness. Your attention to detail is meticulous. You will speak informatively about the space, history and interior features of the hotel, utilizing their strong presentation skills. The position will require a strong ability to read guest cues to understand the experience the guest desires.   

Duties and responsibilities related to the Busperson role: 

  • Welcome guests by being approachable, enthusiastic, professional, and hospitable in presence and demeanor  

  • Elevate the guest experience by anticipating guest needs, identifying their preferences and adapting the style of service accordingly  

  • Support the team in setting up and execution of service  

  • Maintain dining room and bar cleanliness including all equipment, tools and surfaces  

  • Adaptable to steps-of-service variations between service periods and fulfilling service requirements to meet our guest's needs  

  • Ensures food and beverages are delivered in a timely fashion  

  • Use given empowerment to handle guest concerns with minimal supervision   

  • Possesses a sincere attitude to be of service to others with a desire to succeed  

  • Provide table maintenance, deliver food and beverages to tables/bar seats/rooms, and support bartenders, baristas and other associates as required  

  • Restock beverage stations and mise-en-place as needed; ensure station areas and walkways are clean and free of clutter   

  • Ensure every restaurant and hotel guest leaves with fond memories by providing a unique and exceptional experience  

  • Any other duties as assigned by leadership to support the guest experience  

Competencies and Requirements: 

  • Passion for Guest Experience: provides exemplary guest service and builds relationships with guests to set the standard for employees  

  • Time Management: effectively manages time to achieve business goals while satisfying the guest service needs  

  • Organization: can effectively move between tasks and prioritize appropriately between execution, operational tasks, and cleanliness  

  • Outgoing & Sociable: has a natural ability to spark casual conversations, can read the “mood” of the room and adapt their personality (ex. upbeat vs. contemplative) to create an enjoyable atmosphere where guests feel comfortable   

  • Collaborative: focused on the success of the team, not the individual; genuinely willing and able to assist others in any capacity that may be required   

  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal  

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays  

  • Must be able to carry, move and lift items weighing up to 25lbs, must be able to stoop and bend, twist or turn to perform essential job functions  

  • Must be able to stand, walk and move for extended periods of time to continuously perform essential job functions  

  • Current and valid Smart Serve Certification
