Hotel LeVeque seeks a positive, service-oriented, energetic and self-motivated Shift Lead to join our team. This position’s primary function is to ensure a smooth shift and serve quality products to customers in a friendly and professional manner while adhering to the standards set by First Hospitality. The success of any Starbucks depends on the entire store team working together to create the best possible experience for the customer and each other. As the leader, you are responsible for the experience your Starbucks team creates.

REQUIRES AVAILABILITY FOR SHIFTS SCHEDULED BETWEEN 6AM-5PM ALL DAYS OF THE WEEK

What you'll be doing...

  • Barista Responsibilities
    • Develops knowledge on goods sold in our coffeehouse including coffee, teas and baked goods.
    • Greets guests/customers in a friendly, personalized and professional manner.
    • Verbally receives and calls back customer orders.
    • Provides quality beverages and food products while adhering to all recipe and presentation standards.
    • Accurately answers customer questions regarding coffee blends, preparation and other product information.
  • Clean Safe Ready 
    • Create clean plays for the team daily.
    • Ensure clean plays are done by the Baristas before leaving their shifts.
    • Station assessments completed weekly.
    • All daily tasks in the DRB complete before the end of the shift
  • Inventory and Orders

    • Ordering of food twice weekly
    • Milk order twice weekly
    • Dry order once weekly
    • Emergency orders for essential items that cannot be borrowed from other stores.
    • Assist Store Supervisor/ Director of Food & Beverage with monthly inventory count.
  • Maintenance

    • Schedule maintenance requests from BUNN, and  LSR as necessary
      • Example: registers go down,  or espresso machine needs repair.

  • Scheduling and Staffing

    • Approve shift and schedule trades.
    • Call in staff to compensate call offs or need for more baristas for special events such as parades or high occupancy rates in the hotel.
    • It is the Shift Lead’s responsibility to assess the busyness and need of Baristas. If sales are slow, then extra staff should be asked to leave early after cleaning and assigned tasks are complete.
  • Store Walks

    • Store walks are to be done by the Shift Lead every 2 hours, as always Clean Safe Ready
    • Customer complaints will initially be handled by the Shift Lead. If the problem cannot be resolved, then it should be escalated to the Store Supervisor or the Hotel Manager on Duty.
  • Training 

    • New Hires will be trained by our Starbucks Certified Trainers and Shift Leads as always, in compliance to Starbucks standards.
    • Shift Leads are the role models of the store and should always maintain professionalism.
    • A training plan consists of learning cards, activities, and skill checks that need to be completed.
  • Continuous Improvement

    • Daily inventory done to assess out of stock items or items with a low count.
    • Cash Tips will be disbursed at close of business and shared equally, if the earlier shift has left for the day, then cash tips will be placed in an envelope with their name on it.
    • Time clock adjustments in UKG when necessary
    • Role model team work and offer support whenever necessary.
  • As always communication is key. It is imperative the Daily Record Book is used daily and notify Manager/Director of Food & Beverage as needed. 
  • All Other Tasks As Assigned by Leadership

  • Open availability to work any weekends, including holidays
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Requires good verbal communication skills.
  • Flexible availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Expected to regularly handle various food and beverage products.
  • Knowledge of applicable computer programs for ringing up customer orders.
  • Basic math skills required.
  • Ability to stand for hours at a time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • High school or equivalent education required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
