Job Summary:
HR Coordinator is responsible for payroll, recruitment and on-boarding of all employees, employee engagement, benefit administration, compliance training, and assisting with employee relations for all employees at the three Chicago locations. The Human Resources Coordinator also interacts with senior management and fellow managers and advises on employee related communication and actions.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing
- Process payroll accurately and on time for all employees, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Validate and enter payroll data, including wage adjustments, tips, deductions, bonuses, and overtime.
- Address payroll inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and maintain employee payroll records with confidentiality.
- Collaborate with the accounting team to update employee records for new hires, terminations, promotions, and changes in compensation.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, garnishments, wage assignments, and reporting requirements.
- Prepare and review payroll reports for management and assist with year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation.
Employee Recognition & Employee Relations
- Design, implement, and manage employee recognition programs aligned with company culture and values.
- Organize regular and ad-hoc recognition events, including service anniversaries, employee of the month awards, and appreciation initiatives.
- Collaborate with managers to support departmental recognition initiatives and gather feedback on program effectiveness.
- Develop communications around recognition initiatives to increase employee engagement and awareness.
- Track and analyze recognition program metrics to make data-driven adjustments for maximum impact.
- Will handle employee relations
- Full-cycle recruitment from Job requisition approval to negotiating the final offer
- On-boarding for all new hires including review and processing of paperwork, company orientation, compliance training, and general HR duties.
- Off-boarding for voluntary and involuntary terminations
- Maintain employee files and ensure supporting documentation is organized
Qualifications:
- Previous experience with Human Resources preferably in the Hospitality Industry
- Experience in employee engagement, recognition programs, or event coordination is a plus.
- Proficiency in payroll software (ADP Work Force Now is desired)
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail, confidentiality, and ability to handle sensitive employee information.
- Passion for enhancing employee morale and supporting a positive workplace culture.
- Fluency in Spanish
