FUNCTION:

Hair Stylist specialize in the beautification and health of hair. These beauty professionals are responsible for performing a variety of hair techniques and practices to increase, improve, or maintain the healthy appearance of the hair. Hair Stylists do not diagnose or treat medical conditions or diseases of the hair; instead, their work is focused solely on hair as it relates to general health and beauty.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Greeting guests and suggesting the appropriate therapies and treatments

• Perform a wide range of hair and color services following protocols

• Obtain client health history using client intake forms, assessing problems and conditions and consulting with clients about recommended hair treatment

• Record detailed SOAP notes for all clients including contraindications, allergies, medications, formulations, and treatment preferences

• Educating clients on spa/salon therapies and services

• Actively pursuing daily sales goals, including retails sales to achieve, and maintaining a retail to service sale ratio

• Complete side work, open and closing duties as directed by the supervisor

• Provide high-quality hair treatments that address hair concerns

• Advise clients and suggest treatments related to their individual needs

• Perform haircuts, washes, hair color, and blowouts.

• Dedication to staying up to date on current licensing changes and abide by all rules and regulations associated with licensure for the state of Oklahoma.

• Ensures complete guest satisfaction.

• Appropriately utilize reservation systems, maintenance records, and guest experience database as vehicles of communication to ensure guest satisfaction.

• Handle all guest interactions with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism; accommodate special requests whenever possible; resolve customer complaints; assist customers in all inquiries in connection with Spa services.

• Always maintain a clean work area.

• Interact with guests and giving them a positive impression of the spa.

• Contribute to the security of the spa facility by monitoring the access of guests and escorting them to treatment areas.

• Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of all spa areas.

• Dispose of trash; bring dirty linens to the proper area for laundering; and stock towels, linens, supplies and amenities in area as needed.

• Maintain orderliness, cleanliness, and presentation of all spa areas.

• Attend all meetings and training required of your department or the company in general.

• Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and managers.

• Ensure compliance of daily opening/closing checklists by walking and ensuring assigned areas are well maintained, stocked, and cleaned to ensure high quality presentation and repair of all equipment.

• Practices the WinStar World Casino and Resort and Winston Hospitality culture.

• Conduct self in a professional manner always and work the hours required.

• Following all spa standard operating procedures (SOP).

• Other duties as assigned. This position may perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs that may be outside the scope of these normal duties.

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE:

Skills and Specifications

Hair Stylists need to be experienced with the below equipment and services or be willing to be trained in them:

• Shampoo Bowl

• Hair Color Processor Dryer

• Hair sheers

• Clippers

• Hair Color

• Hair Dryer/Curling Iron/Straightener

• Hair Hydraulic Chair

PHYSICAL, MENTAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

• Physically mobile with reasonable accommodations.

• Ability to stand for long periods of time.

• Must be able to lift and carry upwards to 25 pounds.

• Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist and grip items while working at assigned desk area.

• Read, write, speak, and understand English.

• Operate in mentally and physically stressful situations.

• Respond to visual and aural cues

• Work in cold & hot temperatures

• Possibly be exposed to secondhand smoke

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED equivalent

• Cosmetology license

• Prior experience in retail, hospitality or salon/spa industry strongly preferred

REQUIREMENTS:

· Current Cosmetology license with the State of Oklahoma

· Prefer 2+ years’ experience as a hair stylist in a hotel/resort spa

· Must be trained in CPR Certification and/or First Aid Training preferred

· Ability to sell and educate clients on products and treatments

· Must have schedule availability to include evenings, weekends, and holidays

· Must understand and maintain confidentiality in all circumstances.

· Ability to handle 6+ hours of appointments per work shift.

GROOMING/UNIFORMS:

All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance. Specific uniform guidelines and/or required articles of clothing will be explained to you as a part of the orientation process.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:

The ability to obtain any certifications, licenses, or permits that may be required by law or by company regulations.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required when performing work duties that may have the potential of risk to your health or safety. The hotel will provide the required PPE. Team members will be trained in the proper use and care of any assigned PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged, or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to your manager.

NOTICE:

Standing, bending, stooping, and lifting weights up to and including 25 lbs. may be required. The hospitality business functions seven (7) days a week, twenty-four hours a day. In addition, this is a hospitality business, and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.
