Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: Assists in the preparation of a variety of bakery and dessert items for all F&B outlets according to established standards of quality and presentation.

JOB DUTIES

  • Under the supervision of the Pastry Lead or Executive Pastry Chef, prepares breads, pies, cakes, cookies and other pastries for all F&B outlets per established recipes.
  • Assists in determining the appropriate quantity of baked goods for each F&B outlet.
  • Taste tests pastry items made from production to ensure consistent quality.
  • Plates, portions, and garnishes desserts to ensure proper presentation.
  • Completes production records in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Assists in developing new products for a la carte and catering menus on a rotating basis.
  • Sets daily pars on all products to ensure freshness. Rotates all bakery items according to established procedures.
  • Cleans equipment and workstation thoroughly during and at the end of each shift in order to maintain proper sanitation and orderliness.
  • MUST be able to work a flexible shift that includes: Days, Afternoon, Nights and Weekends. Plus, work Holidays as well, if needed.

Note: May be assigned other duties by supervisor or management

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Two (2) year pastry degree from an accredited institution or a Four (4) year apprenticeship in a professional pastry kitchen within a Four (4) Diamond or Four (4) Star Hotel
  • Knowledge of working in a pastry kitchen for multiple outlets in a hotel preferred
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Excellent verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail 
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills 
  • Knife handling, pastry, and baked goods knowledge
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as recipe yields, serving size, weight and temperature conversion
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to walk and move about for extended periods, stand, reach, talk, hear, grasp and perform repetitive motions 
  • Ability to push, pull, lift, carry or otherwise move up to 10-25 lbs. and up to 70lbs occasionally 
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, stressful environment at times
