Join Our Team as Director of Housekeeping

Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for excellence? We're looking for a Director of Housekeeping to lead our Housekeeping Department at Mountain Lodge Telluride, our 140 room condo hotel.

Position Overview: Manage the day-to-day and long term operations of the Housekeeping department.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operations of the Housekeeping department.
  • Responsible for the hiring and disciplining of all department personnel. Prepare and oversee implementation of and recording of training programs for all staff.
  • Assign and review all performance reviews.
  • Maintain morale of staff to achieve minimal department turnover.
  • Responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning of the department.
  • Prepare and control department budgets.
  • Select, purchase and control all guest, cleaning supplies and equipment. Prepare recommendations for annual budget. Purchase all Housekeeping items and complete installation with minimal disruption to the Lodge.
  • Responsible for payroll control.
  • Prepare and implement preventative maintenance program for guest rooms and public space areas while working collaboratively with Engineering.
  • Manage the selection, training, and development of employees with an eye toward maximum employee satisfaction, productivity and guest satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the hotel to ensure adherence to cleanliness and maintenance standards.
  • Manage operating expenses to maximize costs while providing excellent guest services.
  • Monitor consumption and ordering replacement of guest and cleaning supplies.
  • Have working knowledge of cleaning products and materials in accordance with OSHA regulations and MLT’s safety guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Managing Director.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma minimum.
  • Minimum five years management experience with at least three years in Housekeeping management at progressively higher levels of responsibility.
  • Proven ability to direct and motivate staff.
  • Knowledge of computer accounting programs, math skills as well as budgetary analysis capabilities required.
  • Knowledge of budgetary preparation and control for department operation and capital expenditure.
  • Planning/Organizing.
  • Fast learner.
  • Team leader.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop personal relationships in a professional manner.
  • Able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
  • Language skills
  • Fluency in English is required, additional language ability is a bonus
  • Desire and ability to work within a diverse staff.
  • Due to cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employee may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the lodge. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
  • Ability to work well under limited supervision at times.

  • Must be able to think freely and make decisions on own pertaining to job responsibility
  • Able to perform duties without great supervision
  • Ability to keep calm, responsive and friendly under pressure
  • Able to handle a variety of different tasks at once as well as challenges that may arise with guests, customers and/or employees
  • Knows when to request help or assistance from supervisor
  • WORK ENVIRIONMENT
  • This is a very fast paced busy environment
  • Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by The Mountain Lodge at Telluride, from time-to-time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.
  • Employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the Lodge
  • Multitasking
  • This position is monitored by direct/indirect supervision to ensure all unit procedures are adhered to.
  • Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with The Mountain Lodge at Telluride rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of the Lodge
  • SAFETY and SANITATION
  • At all times safety and health hazards should be foremost in the minds of all employees. All employees must acquaint themselves with OSHA Standards regarding proper use, disposal and storage of chemicals, must practice common sense and not expose themselves to any work procedures which are not within the bounds of good safe practice or in MLT’s Safety Procedures.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, walk, push/pull, climb, and kneel regularly.
  • Strong mental and visual concentration required.
