SUMMARYThe San Manuel Band of Mission Indians (SMBMI) is a self-governing nation and as such has established tribally-managed governmental units to enhance and support services on the San Manuel reservation. The San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission (SMTGC) is the governmental unit that was created by tribal ordinance as the primary regulator of gaming within the SMBMI’s jurisdiction, including the Yaamava Resort & Casino (YRC). The SMTGC, which includes the Surveillance Department, is responsible for maintaining legal and regulatory compliance, ensuring a high level of integrity, and safeguarding Tribal and YRC assets.Under the direction of the Surveillance Technical Supervisor, the Surveillance Infrastructure Technician is responsible for the administration and oversight of Surveillance Department systems (numerous), equipment, components, and infrastructure. Systems include but not limited to; CCTV systems, and infrastructure, conduit bending, and installation, cable installation, termination, testing and certification of fiber optic cable, category cable, multi conductor and coaxial cable, weapons detection systems deployment, bag X-Ray scanner, support SMTGC hearings, and deploy or maintain trailered CCTV mobile units. Responsibilities include but not limited to installation, repair, and maintenance of these systems at properties owned and operated by SMBMI. Properties include but are not limited to, YRC Casino, YRC Hotel, YRC Retail, YRC Entertainment Venue, YRC Amenities, YRC Food & Beverage areas, SMBMI Reservation, and numerous SMBMI remote site locations. The Surveillance Technician reads and interprets system diagrams/schematics and is proficient in using tools and testing instruments, as tasks include performing and assisting with installation/uninstallation of components and infrastructure of Surveillance Department systems. The Surveillance Technician is also responsible for installation and cross connecting of Surveillance Department systems components such as servers, network switches, storage devices, and PC workstations, etc. This position also assists in the technical design, planning, implementation, and the highest level of performance and recovery for mission critical surveillance systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Installs and configure surveillance department system components such as cameras, servers, prepare network switches, storage devices, wireless devices, equipment racks, cabinets, environmental monitoring devices, and weapons detection systems. Installs/dresses, terminates, tests, certifies, and labels various types of cable (i.e. Category cable, fiber, coaxial).  Installs cable pathway and management systems (conduit, cable trays, cable racks, J-hooks or D-rings).

2. Performs routine and emergency maintenance; troubleshoots outages, issues, and/or concerns related to all surveillance department systems.  Promptly and accurately identifies situations that require quick, effective, and reasonable courses of action with due regard to the circumstances.   

3. Processes work orders, documenting work performed, and provides accurate daily and/or weekly status reporting.  Provides feedback and/or solutions to projects, tasks and technical, physical installation or mechanical challenges.  May enact user accounts for multiple information systems through granting, provisioning, and de-provisioning identities, and access accounts in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.

4. Operates equipment such as man lifts, aerial boom lift/truck, utility vehicles, and enterprise vehicles.  Uses tools including but not limited; ladders, power tools and various hand tools.

5. Assist with managing vendor activity for routine work or emergency services and ensuring optimization of Surveillance Department systems.

6. Maintains accurate inventory of all surveillance system components and tools.

7. Maintains working knowledge of Surveillance Department Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), SMTGC and Casino policies/procedures, federal, state, and tribal regulations pertaining to SMBMI and its operations.

8. Is "on-call" and responsible for technical support in response to enterprise needs on 24 hour 7 day a week basis.

9. Performs other duties as assigned to support efficient operation of Department.

Education/Experience/Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational/Technical certification(s) in Low Voltage, Surveillance Technical, Information Technology (IT) infrastructure, physical security or related field preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working with electronic, low voltage, surveillance closed-circuit television (CCTV), access control systems or IT infrastructure is required.
  • Combination of experience in Low Voltage, Surveillance Technical, IT data center, access control systems or related field and education may be considered in lieu of minimum educational/experience requirements indicated above.
  • Must possess, or be able to attain, skills to operate equipment such as man lifts, aerial boom lifts/trucks, ladders, hand/power tools, and utility trucks. Required.
  • Must possess, or be able to attain, and maintain Certified Fiber Optic Installer (FOI) certification. Required.
  • Must possess, or be able to attain, and maintain Genetec beginner and advanced certification. Required.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
  • Proven commitment to working in a team environment with a capacity for self-direction, and a strong willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematic diagrams.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English for safety purposes.
  • Must be personable and professional, capable of using caution and discretion in communication.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

  • Must obtain and maintain a Class “A” Gaming License issued by the San Manuel Gaming Commission.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record as determined by the enterprise’s insurance carrier.
  • CompTIA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • A Physical Security Professional (PSP) Certificate is preferred.
