JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT 

In this dynamic and varied role, you will be responsible for performing general handy person tasks such as painting guest rooms, function rooms, offices, corridors, partitions, and other construction-related work. You will collaborate effectively with fellow team members and other hotel departments to maintain the high standards of quality, service, hygiene, and value that Hilton is known for, ensuring our guests have a pristine and welcoming environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES  

People 

Carry out assigned tasks by management, including physical duties such as; lifting and transporting furniture and other equipment, climbing ladders, working in enclosed areas and pushing trolleys.  

Any other duties assigned by the Cluster Maintenance Manager, General Manager. 

Comply with all systems and procedures as laid down by the Cluster Maintenance Manger, General Manager and Hilton. 

Be pro-active in developing your individual skills. 

Be self-motivated and perform to the highest level 

Ensure you regularly attend communication meetings held within the department 

Ensure planned training is completed 

Ensure communication between Engineering and all other areas of the hotel is professional, efficient and thorough.  

Comply with all company policies 

Comply with all systems and procedures as laid down by the Cluster Maintenance Manager, General Manager and Hilton. 

Respond to and manage departmental change as required by the hotel, Hilton, government legislation or industry trends. 

Ensuring your grooming is in line with hotel policy. 

To perform any other related duties and special projects as assigned by the Hotel.

Quality 

To repair and maintain all electrical, mechanical, plumbing, kitchen and heating systems and associated equipment within the hotel in close co-ordination with the engineering leadership team.    

Painting and or varnishing guest rooms, function rooms, offices, corridors, partitions and other construction work 

Repairing and hanging wallpaper when required 

Mixing and tinting paints to obtain required colours 

Maintaining all painting equipment and keeping all varnished and painted furniture in a near new condition 

Carry out basic repairs, filling holes, cracks, sanding and prepping 

Assist other departmental trades as required.                  

Customer 

Always have the guest and their comfort in mind in relations to your role and impact as Painter.  

To be respectful of our guest’s privacy ensuring their every request in this regard is strictly adhered to and their details remain confidential. 

Ensure a high level of product knowledge of the hotel and local area 

Be focused on hospitality and customer service 

Profit

Adhere to departmental operating expenses as laid out by your manager 

Workplace Health and Safety

Team members will be accountable to their supervisor or manager for: 

Working in a safe and healthy manner and encouraging the safe behaviour of their peers. 

Taking reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and others (team members, contractors, guests, members of the public) at the hotel. 

Keeping their work area safe, clean and tidy. 

Accepting and abiding by, the intent and instruction of the WHS policy. 

Participating in all WHS consultative meetings, emergency response rehearsals and reviews. 

The immediate reporting (to their direct supervisor) of all hazards which may cause injury, ill health or damage and to actively participate in programs undertaken to eliminate or control such hazards to the extent to which they are authorised and/or qualified. 

The immediate reporting of all incidents – no matter how small to their direct supervisor. 

Undertaking all training in safe work practises, system requirements, and where necessary, re-training. 

Participate and cooperate in the rehabilitation and return to work program if injured. 

Wearing and maintaining all personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job or work environment. 

Cooperate with Hilton regarding any requirement that is enforced in the interests of health, safety and welfare at work.

Requirements

What are we looking for?

Previous painting preferable in Hospitality field.
