Position Qualifications
Education: College degree in recreation preferred. Minimum high school diploma required.
Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend the English language at a level sufficient to
communicate fluently and effectively with clients, members, guests, and co-workers.
Training & Experience: Must be CPR/AED and First Aid Certified. Must have some
experience working with children.
Job Knowledge: Must have a basic knowledge of how to handle children including care,
safety, and entertainment. Must also possess a working knowledge of recreational programming;
and an appreciated knowledge of appropriate equipment and accompanying safety features,
member and employee relations.
Job Summary: Self-motivated and energetic person to work flexible hours including
weekends and holidays. To provide a fun and safe environment for the hotel guests’ and
members’ children. Direct all camp related activities, pool events, and special children’s
programs. Monitor and develop the efforts of appointed camp counselors and assistants. To keep
updated on recreational needs and coordinated group activities. Also, administer CPR and first aid
as needed, deliver top quality service, know and use the members’ and guests’ names, exceed the
members’ and guests’ expectations and be a team player.
Physical Abilities: Must be able to work with many children at a time. Must be able to
work on feet, moving about at a quick pace for several hours at a time; must be able to lift, carry,
and move a minimum of 45 pounds, to include equipment and furniture.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
1. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, to include weekends, holidays and split shifts.
2. Arrive to work on time, consistently.
3. Upon entering the property, arrive in proper uniform, crisp, clean and in good repair.
4. Hair must be clean and cut in a becoming style; management has final approval.
5. Attend all required training, safety courses; attend office and departmental meetings.
6. Report any safety hazards, follow up that hazard has been corrected, and assist with providing a safe work environment.
7. Communicate frequently with members to insure their total satisfaction and to obtain their feedback, following up on observations, suggestions and any complaints.
8. Responsible for all corporate adult and children recreation events.
9. Design and implement year round recreation programs.
10. Personally emcee all recreation programs.
11. Manage and design a Summer Camp Program.
12. Keep the Nursery clean, organized and safe for the children.
13. Maintain an inventory of all toys, games, etc..
14. Have members and/or guests sign in their children, informing them of the cost per hour.
15. Ring in all Nursery charges to the correct member/guest number.
16. Learn JONAS (computer sales) system; ring in all sales.
17. Know and ensure the membership and nursery guidelines.
18. Answer the telephone, forward calls or take detailed messages and deliver to appropriate person.
19. Cross-functional work with gym staff, lifeguards, beach rentals, PVIC Recreation personnel when needed.
20. Perform other jobs that will assist in quality guest service as assigned by Activities Manager.
