Full-Time

BASIC FUNCTION:  The Director of Finance will oversee the Accounting/ department and maintain accounting standards within established policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • College degree in Accounting or Finance preferred or equivalent professional experience.
  • Four years experience as a hotel/resort Director of Finance.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and communicate in English to adequately perform the duties of the job.
  • Excellent PC Skills including proficiency in the use of PVNG, Profit Sword, Point of Sales and Property Management Systems as well as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to handle multiple ongoing projects/tasks in a fast-paced team environment and deal with/interact all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to make decisions based on established policies and procedures and guidance from the GM & Area Director of Finance/CFO.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying inquiries made by guests, staff, and corporate officers.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive material with the utmost discretion and confidentiality.
  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest and/or operational needs.
  • Must be able to maintain standards of attendance and punctuality and must be able to work varying schedules that include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as business dictates.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail, flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and ability to engage with guests and team members in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Positive, outgoing and self-motivating individual with pleasant personality.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Maintain and secure assets, minimizing outstanding receivables, controlling cash, and maintaining inventories.
  2. Manage all operational budget and forecasts with Executive Committee members and General Manager.
  3. Prepare cash forecast on a weekly and monthly basis.
  4. Oversee preparation and submission of accurate and timely monthly financial statements.
  5. Develop, implement, support, and maintain financial internal controls in all departments in compliance with standards of procedures and policies of the organization.
  6. Maintain all contracts, leases, permits and licensing, as well as other legal and financial records.
  7. Operate in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and government regulations.
  8. Maintain insurance (general liability, property, and worker’s compensation) programs.
  9. Manage all financial audits whether internal or external.
  10. Coordinate all internal financial training and development of department heads and managers.
  11. Prepare periodic presentations for owner’s meetings in conjunction with Executive Committee and/or General Manager.
  12. Manage all aspects of accounts receivable, accounts payables, general cashiering, and payroll processing.
  13. Prepare monthly financial statements for accuracy and submit per company policies and procedures.
  14. Responsible for monthly balance sheet reconciliations. 

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Respond to any reasonable task assigned by Director of Financial Operations and General Manager.
  2. Attend and conduct meetings as required both within the department and within the hotel organizational structure.
  3. Ensure effective solution-oriented communication within the department and with other operation departments.
