In the days of the pony express, Ely grew as a stop on the stagecoach run nestled between Utah’s Wasatch Mountains and the Sierra Nevada range. Copper was discovered in 1906, and it’s still part of our modern story, as is tourism. Modern visitors are taken with the Ghost Train of Old Ely, preserved as a heritage railway. This is White Pine County, named for the trees commonly found in our mountains of the Great Basin National Park, near the Utah border. Nevada’s highest summit at more than 13,000 feet, Wheeler Peak, is located here, complete with sunken gardens and the Lehman Caves. Humboldt National Forest and Ward Mountain Recreation Area are both only six miles away and the University of Nevada is practically on our doorstep.

Relax before our fireplace or enjoy our pool and fitness room. You can travel light, as we provide an in-room microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer and iron with ironing board. Down the hall, a guest laundry facility is available at a modest fee. At the end of a fun and busy day, you’ll find 10 restaurants within a mile or so, including some which are adjacent, so you can leave your car in our parking lot, which is always free.
