What You'll Do:
- Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics, which inspire employees to meet and exceed standards.
- Manage Banquet Captains and the entire Banquet hourly team (FT, PT and On-Call) and be responsible of their schedule.
- Responsible of entire department payroll and Tips payroll processing.
- Perform in the capacity of any position supervised
- Work closely with Conference Services Manager, Chef, Purchasing and all other Directors of the property.
- Know food preparation and service.
- Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate.
- Promote employee empowerment.
- Utilize knowledge of physical capabilities of banquet space.
- Order supplies for banquet department.
- Supervise the set-up of function rooms to include placement of linens, silver, china, and glassware according to event order specifications. Visually inspect function rooms and equipment prior to functions for cleanliness, proper inventory, and set up.
- Responsible for monthly inventory of all banquet equipment.
- Verbally communicate, in a calm, positive demeanor, during the course of the function with the kitchen, service, beverage, convention services, and engineering staff, as well as the guest host to ensure timely execution of events, quality service, and adherence to all applicable federal, state, local safety and health regulations and corporate standards.
- Attend various meeting including daily BEO meetings.
- Responsible for all Budgets for the department.
- Oversee and assist in collection of payments for banquet functions.
- Enter billing information into point of sale/automated sales system in order to generate a final banquet check. Process payroll for each event which includes calculating number of hours worked and gratuity distribution.
- Solve unusual customer requests creatively.
- Serve guests, monitor banquet room activity, maneuver through crowds and staff.
- Write, use calculator, garnish and fill plates, fold napkins and handle hot pans.
- Stock supplies, carry trays, serve at arm’s length extension, set up banquet tables.
- Serve food, set up banquet tables, use telephone.
- Carry trays, glassware and beverage containers
- Check staff attendance according to schedules, adjust and reassign server stations, as necessary, in order to provide quality service during functions.
- Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff.
- Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
- Be hands on with banquet staff as needed including set-up / tear down.
- Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor to include cross training.
- This position will report directly to the Director of Food & Beverage.
Who You are:
- Experienced banquets professional with 5+ years of banquets experience with a proven track record of success in a leadership role.
- Must be able to oversee entire banquet department scheduling.
- Passionate about hospitality and dedicated to providing exceptional guest experiences.
- Strong communicator with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have the ability to communicate in English. Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
- Can communicate well with guests during banquet functions.
- Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player.
- Must have comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
- Knowledge of the appropriate table settings and service ware.
- Knowledge of Payroll and Tips Payroll Processing.
- Knowledge of all applicable federal, state and local health and safety regulations.
- Ability to grasp, lift, carry or transport up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to operate various food and beverage equipment present at a function.
- Must have open availability to work all Banquet Functions this includes Weekends and Holidays.
Compensation: $75,000 - $95,000 per year based on experience. This position will be part of Crescent Bonus Structure plan.
