Position Statement:
The Director position is a senior functional role within the EMEA Architecture, Design and Construction team. The AD&C team provides support to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, facilitating pipeline growth of all Hilton brands across the region. The Directors primary focus is the advancement of design and all architectural responsibilities associated with development growth, supporting stakeholders in the KSA region.
Position Summary:
As the Director Architecture KSA, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
Architectural support to facilitate development growth in KSA region, liaising with owners, franchise operators, design consultants and all internal departments to advance architecture and design across all Hilton brands. Support to the Hilton development team in the pre-signing design review process. Guidance to owner’s architects in the development of design proposals relative to brand requirements to achieve minimum criteria for potential new build, adaptive re-use and conversion projects to be signed as Hilton brands. Adding value to the design process by employing hospitality design experience to support owner’s teams in developing functional, efficient designs and space planning solutions, ensuring designs are fit for purpose relative to the intended Hilton brand for projects. Develop tailored area programs to share with Hilton development team / owner’s consultants to commence basis of design. Preparation of recommended consultant lists for owners. Liaison with other AD&C functions as required, including ID team / engineers or project directors as required. Liaison with internal Hilton departments such as Brand / F&D team / Operations as required. Chairing/participation in review meetings & workshops with consultants & stakeholders as required for opportunities during pre-signing stages and beyond. Suitability assessments for operator bids. Project reviews of all pipeline projects (post signing) at key stages of design development for alignment with brand requirements, space planning guidelines and technical standards. Architectural support to Hilton project directors during the design development and construction of all projects. Periodic site visits during construction with project directors to monitor the quality of work. Close liaison with all Hilton brand representatives, lending architectural support to all brand initiatives and new brand roll-outs relative to region. Review and development of the architecture and interior design processes related to brand initiatives – management of the internal Hilton teams and design consultants appointed to develop brand specific packages and preparing scope of works, deliverables and briefing documentation. Develop / follow standards for project review systems to ensure the feedback from the architectural team is consistent and functionally fit for purpose. Completing and sharing weekly status reports to note the status of projects, work activities, project & workflow planning and key meetings. Conducting project handovers with Hilton project directors once new projects are signed. Preparation of reports and presentations to Owners/Developers, Hilton management and Architecture, Design & Construction. Maintain active knowledge about the Hotel Design industry, trends and competitors. Building rapport with the development team, internal departments, consultants, owners and franchisees to ensure effective working relationships. What are we looking for?
Applicants must be a qualified Architect with a proven background in hotel / hospitality design. Fluent English and Arabic language skills are also essential.
Excels in problem-solving, working under pressure, and collaborating to meet deadlines. Ability to work on multiple projects across multiple countries with different stakeholders. Ability to work independently with strong work ethic, punctual nature and a dedicated team member. Strong inter-personal skills to communicate effectively and build working relationships across the region. Good verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with AutoCAD/Revit, Microsoft 365 applications, Bluebeam PDF Revu Upholds ethical standards, handles sensitive information with absolute discretion, and takes initiative to achieve goals.
Required Qualifications
University degree or extensive experience in lieu. Qualified architect with strong design space planning skills, and hotel understanding. Substantial and significant work experience in hospitality design. A thorough understanding of hospitality architecture. Ability to speak, write and communicate fluently in Arabic and English. Ability to access the Holy Cities.
Preferred Qualifications
Currently working for, or previously employed by a major international hotel company in similar capacity, or major design or management role in architectural practice specialising in hotel and large mixed-use developments across KSA.
