Job Title: Group Sales Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Overview: Group sales managers are responsible for leading a sales team that services existing accounts and uses a variety of marketing and outreach strategies to generate and nurture new accounts. They also handle direct sales and engage in account management duties and supervise a team of sales specialists and leaders.
Reports to: Director of Sales & Marketing
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Achieves or exceeds sales goals within their assigned market/territory
- Establishes new client relationships and maintains existing relationships to maximize revenue.
- Responds to all incoming leads for business to secure opportunities and maximize revenue.
- Analyzes requirements of business opportunities.
- Researches and maintains knowledge of market trends, competition, and customers
- Prepares booking reports and client data.
- Develops long-term relationships with clients or potential clients by maintaining consistent verbal and written communications and providing professional client service
- Maintains detailed information about clients/prospective clients and enters data into property's computer systems.
- Attends Business Review Meetings and other required Internal Meetings
- Participate in Tradeshows, conduct site visits and client appointments
- Responds to guest inquiries and coordinates special arrangements and requests.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree in Hospitality desired, not required.
- One or more years of related sales experience – hospitality industry preferred experience
- Possess solid knowledge of hotel service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
- Knowledge of sales techniques with strong skills and ability to negotiate and close sales desired.
- Requires strong communication and interpersonal skills and commitment to a high level of guest satisfaction.
- Requires working knowledge of MS Office applications and ability to learn and use telephone and computer systems used at the hotel. Proficiency with Amadeus preferred.
- Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, team members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. Work schedules will include working on holidays, weekends and alternate shifts.
- Position requires working from property location.
- Must maintain a clean appearance and professional demeanor.
