Summary:Oversees the staff and operations of a bar by making sure it’s clean, functioning efficiently and inviting for customers to relax in. Their main duties include scheduling employees and building their shift calendars, managing and resolving customer complaints and ensuring the bar’s inventory is well-stocked.

Lobby Bar Manager ensures the bar is running smoothly at all times by overseeing its day-to-day operations. It’s the Manager’s responsibility to maintain a safe and fun environment for customers. Maintain liquor licensing and ensure that staff is following local requirements and proper alcohol distribution regulations. Is in charge of hiring and training bar employees and building schedules to ensure there are enough people working at the bar during its peak hours.

Essential Job Functions: Include the following. Other job duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains inventory.
  • Advertise the daily, weekly and monthly promotions of the bar.
  • Provides input on décor and marketing, including social media and other forms of publicity.
  • Performs opening and closing duties
  • Selects and purchases liquor and other supplies.
  • Creates new drinks.
  • Prepares and serve cocktails and mocktails.
  • Ensures bar is well-stocked and clean.
  • Maintains drink recipe documentation.
  • Determines bar employees’ schedules.
  • Appropriately delegates tasks to bar staff.
  • Oversees planning for special bar events.
  • Oversees staff, including bartenders and barbacks, and, in some cases wait staff as well.
  • Tracks customer behavior and sales.
  • Maintains budget and monitors costs.
  • Manages compliance with food and beverage hygiene policies and procedures.
  • Manages equipment maintenance.
  • Hires, trains, promotes, and, when necessary, disciplines or fires staff.
  • Initiates and maintains vendor relationships.
  • Uses point-of-sale tracking technology and bar and restaurant management platforms.

Qualifications:

  • Full-Time Management position that requires a flexible schedule and the ability to work day/night shifts, weekends, and holidays. A varied schedule.

Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to provide and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to communicate and work well with fellow employees and other departments. Maintain a presentable appearance, behavior and manner at all times. Ability to process administrative work. Ability to resolve guest and employee conflicts. Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or listen. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift, push, carry, pull, or move up to 50 pounds. Repetitive motion, including utilizing telephone/computer for an extended period or for an entire shift.

Work Environment: Work is generally performed in bar areas, restaurants, alcohol storage, and offices.
