We are seeking a talented, passionate hotel sales professional to join our team at the Thompson Chicago in the Gold Coast neighborhood, downtown Chicago. SUMMARY: The Group Sales Manager is primarily responsible for development and knowledge of the Entertainment, Sports and Corporate Group markets. This is a dual role with the ability of servicing groups, coordinating all details for meetings (i.e., menus, AV, rooming lists, guaranteed counts and all other client details). Compiles all information to all departments to ensure a successful event. Executing the sales strategy to achieve revenue goals. They will maximize the profitability of the hotel while maintaining guest satisfaction. Working with the team with any new updated changes within the department and/or other departments as we grow.
The Group Sales Manager shall strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times. They will be responsible for exemplifying the Hotel's Culture.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Hyatt knowledge is a plus
- Time will be spent in a direct sales role calling on group clients, booking appointments, managing site visits and actively making prospecting calls.
- This individual will pursue their benchmarked revenue and activity goals.
- You will learn and understand the Thompson Chicago rate management; evaluating good pieces of business and increasing rates to meet owner's expectations.
- You are knowledgeable of the selling process and possess a proven track record.
- You can develop and implement quarterly action plans for the assigned market.
- This candidate has excellent knowledge of Word and Excel; knowledge of Opera PMS is strongly preferred.
- You will stay informed on current industry trends that affect your local market.
- You will maintain accurate and complete files electronically and hard copies per company guidelines
- You can take on duties as requested by the Director of Sales & Marketing.
- This job requires excellent time management and organizational skills.
- You may be asked to attend after-hour networking events.
- You may be asked to travel for sales calls and tradeshow.
- Maintain positive guest relations at all times is what we do.
- You may be asked to identify operational problems that impact the effectiveness of overall sales performance and work closely with appropriate departments on solutions.
- You will cultivate collaborative, mutually supportive relationships with and among customers, community, sales office, and hotel staff.
- You will up with clients regularly during and after departure to ensure satisfaction and secure future bookings.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related field strongly preferred
- 1 - 2 years of experience in hotel sales preferred
- Overall knowledge of hotel sales
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Basic math skills
- Willingness and ability to promote a positive team member culture and core values
- Ability to maximize impact, maintain interest, and establish a rapport with your audience when conveying information
- Excellent grammar and speaking ability (English)

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time
- Must be able to frequently stand up or move within and outside the facility
- Must be able to carry or lift items weighing up to 30 pounds
- Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movements consistent with office work
- Must be able to frequently handle office supplies and equipment to maintain the facility
