As Catering Sales Manager you will work directly with clients planning events and meetings creating an enjoyable and memorable guest experience from start to finish ensuring a positive lasting impression.  Serve as the primary liaison between the sales team and the staff while focusing on the client's expectations.

In this role:

The Catering Sales Manager is an expert in building and maintaining long term relationships within the Minnetonka market, selling, identifying and converting local catering opportunities. The primary sales efforts of this position are in Banquet Food and Beverage. Responsibilities include driving revenue by providing thoughtful proposals to inquiries, proactively developing relationships for future business opportunities, hosting hotel tours, negotiating contractual terms, and facilitating communication before, during and post event with the planning teams.

The Catering Sales Manager is a leader in the department, participating in and supporting initiatives within the Sales team. This role encompasses in office and remote access and requires presence for site visits, pre-planning meetings, and other sales related guest facing or internal meetings as indicated by the Director of Sales, Marketing & Events.

Requirements to be successful in this role:

  • Prior experience or similar role is required, strong hotel background (2+ years), and one or more; catering/convention services, banquets, hotel sales, culinary arts is a must.
  • Four-year college degree from an accredited institution desired
  • Solid computer skills and knowledge of various discipline-focused computer programs, including strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills including follow up, time management, ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Primary focus is to increase revenues and profits by generating social and corporate business through proactive sales efforts.
  • Proactively pursue leads and maintain existing client relationships
  • Utilize your sales savvy and hospitality expertise to develop and maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers
  • Possess outstanding leadership, organizational skills, strong yield and revenue management skills, excellent written and verbal communications, a guest service focus, a team orientation and a passion for sales. In addition to your selling skills, we need creativity, motivation and dedication for this position.
  • Communicate regularly with key account planners, social contacts, and other hospitality professionals to establish strong relationships.
  • Responsible for monthly/quarterly and annual banquet and catering forecasting accuracy
  • Maximize use of all available hotel space to generate food, beverage and rental revenues.
  • Maintains a professional image at all times through appearance and dress
