The PASTRY CHEF DE PARTIE is responsible to prepare luxury resort quality pastries and baked goods to be served in all hotel food outlets.

The expected base wage range for this position is: $26 per hour. This position may be eligible for additional compensation according to the Company's policies, as they may be amended from time to time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

• To understand and respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner.
• To be able to follow and or create new recipes according to guests’ needs.
• To assist, as directed, to train, and support Pastry staff, to ensure efficient and professional preparation of pastries and baked goods.
• To assume all duties of the Pastry Chef in his/her absence.
• To portion, plate, and tray all desserts for hotel food outlets.
• To deliver foods in a timely manner.
• To participate in new menu planning for Restaurant and or Banquets.
• To review banquet function sheets and leisure counts daily, in order to establish work detail lists for Pastry staff.
• To maintain a reference file of current recipes, and continually develop new pastry items and fulfill Splashes restaurant weekly desserts.
• To requisition pastry supplies, as needed.
• To fill pastry orders, as requested.
• To monitor daily forecast and ensure advance prep needs are met on a daily basis.
• To maintain inventory ordering for Banquet and restaurant.
• To complete monthly inventory, maintaining JC Resorts food cost standards.
• To assist in maintaining the kitchen equipment including cleaning and reporting any repair needs.
• To maintain the cleanliness and safety of work areas at all times, including Splashes Kitchen, Pastry areas, Banquet Walk-in and Freezer.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. English fluency required. Spanish language ability helpful. Must have minimum three years of experience in pastry preparation and decorating, including supervisory experience. Show pieces optional. Familiar with OSHA, SB198, local Department of Health regulations, and relevant current laws governing handling of hazardous substances. Hotel experience preferred. A valid food handlers card must be timely obtained upon hire and maintained in good standing, which time and expense may be compensable.

SKILLS AND APTITUDES: Demonstrated ability to train staff and ensure luxury resort customer service. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Detail oriented. Organized and efficient. Safety-minded. High quality standards for production and service. Good team player. Customer service focus. Ability to effectively manage staff to maintain a high level of morale and productivity.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Stands and walks short distances throughout shift. Frequently required to handle and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. over short distances. Bends, stoops, reaches, pushes, pulls, and lifts to perform routine job tasks. Must be able to work well under pressure. Frequent use of stairs, daily.

TRAVEL: This position is not expected to travel for work.

REMOTE WORK: This position is not eligible to work remotely. The candidate must be able to work in-person during normal business hours.
