Primary Objective Of Position

To coordinate the activities of the Restaurants, the Bar, and other Food & Beverage outlets as needed to deliver quality products and services to guests. Achieve a high level of guest satisfaction while maintaining high level of service as per Langham Hospitality Group and Forbes standards.

Responsibilities And Job Duties

  • Provide direction and supervision of food servers, server assistants, and other staff in reference to schedules, service standards, training, motivation, and safety.
  • Assist in ensuring that Food and Beverage outlets comply with sanitation and safety standards for guests and employees. Check that all equipment is in working order. Visually inspect and take action to ensure that facilities in restaurant look appealing and attractive to guests. Follow up on work orders so repairs and maintenance of facility are completed on a timely basis.
  • Monitor product quality and guest satisfaction in restaurants. Ensure that food quality is consistent, appealing, and prepared to guest specifications. Interact with guests to obtain feedback on quality of service and food in outlet.
  • Document inventory forecast usage and monitor supply so that restaurants are stocked with linen, glassware, silverware, china, condiments, in order to provide service.
  • Interact with customers to determine needs, satisfaction and resolve conflicts.
  • Perform duties of line employees as needed under high volume and emergency situations.
  • Report to duty as scheduled by direct supervisor according to operating hours.
  • Provide maximum levels of guest service while maintaining Langham Hospitality Group standards.
  • Be fully versed in all Forbes service standards, train, reinforce and ensure the proper execution of those standards.
  • Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

Special Skills Required

  • Thorough knowledge of Food and Beverage outlet operations including foods, beverages, supervisory aspects, service techniques, and guest interaction.
  • Considerable skill in math and algebraic equations using percentages.
  • Ability to walk, stand and or bend continuously to perform essential job functions.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, with guests and associates.
  • Ability to use patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and to collect accurate information to resolve problems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations during busy periods.

Education Required

High School diploma required. Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management preferred.

Experience Required

Position requires 1 year of previous Food and Beverage and management experience.

Licenses Or Certificates

Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate. CPR Certification and/or First Aid Training preferred.

The Langham Chicago

The Langham, Chicago, opened its doors July 2013.  The 52-story building, situated on the plaza overlooking the River, was designed by famed Chicago architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.  Langham Chicago takes up 13 floors of the iconic building.  The ground floor reception area designed by Dirk Lohan of Lohan Anderson, was van der Rohe's grandson and the Lobby is a tribute to his grandfather's distinctive style showcasing period and contemporary influences.  Throughout the hotel, you will find many influences of Mies van der Rohe.
