Overview

Under general supervision of the Risk and Safety Manager and/or Risk and Safety Supervisor, develops, promotes safety awareness by educating and training employees on safety policies, procedures, laws, and regulations. Provides technical knowledge and expertise in the operation and support of Osage Casino health and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.  Also monitors preventive maintenance, registration, licensing, and effective usage of Osage Casinos’ company vehicle fleet.

MINIMUM QUALIFICAQTIONS:

  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in safety administration, industrial safety, risk management, industrial management or related field with one year risk or safety program experience.
  • Associate’s Degree in safety administration, industrial safety, risk management, industrial management or related field with three years risk or safety program experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree.
  • Must be able to pass background check, with no prior convictions of any felonies.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Osage Nation Gaming License.
  • Tribal preference and Native American Indian preference shall apply to all positions at Osage Casinos.

Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES:

  • Researches and investigates guest and employee accidents; perform accident statistical analysis; makes recommendations to reduce the incident rate of accidents.
  • Provides written and verbal recommendations on safety procedures, programs, equipment, etc. to members and clients/customers.
  • Assists in implementation of safety and risk management programs.
  • Engages in activities necessary to accomplish loss avoidance, loss prevention, loss reduction, loss retention, loss transfer, and loss control assessment and to minimize the company’s risk exposure and to reduce costs.
  • Conducts on-site inspections of properties and facilities to identify hazards and risk exposures, prevent accidents and conserve company property.
  • Conducts presentations to identify loss, liability, or risk exposures; and trains and consults with facilities staff to accomplish loss avoidance, loss prevention, loss reduction, loss retention, loss transfer, and loss control.
  • Ensures claim investigations are conducted and works with Surveillance and other staff to ensure proper claim investigation.
  • Responsible for the collection and subsequent chain of custody of random and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol tests and testing.
  • Assures post-accident drug testing is administered in a timely manner.
  • Maintains and tracks all random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug-testing records.
  • Assists and facilitate training to employees on occupational safety, HR, loss prevention and other issues.
  • Assists in developing, coordinating, and implementing services, programs, and activities to ensure safety measures are in place.
  • Conducts routine audits of chemical inventories at each property.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all privileged information.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by conducting research, attending seminars, educational workshops, classes, and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies; conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations.
  • Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.

GUEST SERVICE:

  • Provides excellent internal and external guest services, treating all guests with courtesy and consideration at all times.
  • Cooperates and communicates with all employees, always exhibiting mutual respect and consistently projecting a positive, helpful image and attitude.
  • Monitors production and service levels by interacting with guest and staff

COMMUNICATION:

  • Ensures company information provided by management is effectively communicated to assigned staff and ensures staff concerns, request for information, and ideas for improvement are effectively relayed to management.
  • Facilitates the flow of information throughout the area of responsibility by presiding over scheduled meetings with management and team members as required.
  • Stays informed of company information and communications by reviewing all e-mails, digital boards and SharePoint.

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE:

  • Maintains excellent working relationships with other Company staff and all applicable regulatory commissions and other agencies as may be applicable to ensure compliance.
  • Performs all duties in accordance with company core values, objectives of the Osage Nation, internal policies and procedures, as well, as applicable laws and gaming regulations, including but not limited to, the state-tribal compact, IGRA, MICS, ONGR, the Bank Secrecy Act, Office of Foreign Asset Control, USA Patriot Act and Privacy Act. 

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
  • Knowledge of department organization, functions, objectives, policies and procedures.
  • Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs in a Windows environment.
  • Skill in preparing, reviewing, and analyzing operational and financial reports.
  • Skill in conducting investigations and research.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to interpret applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to frequently travel to properties and facilities to perform duties.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Required to sit and stand for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to walk, stoop, kneel or crouch while performing duties.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Ability to use arms to reach and lift above shoulders.
  • Must have normal auditory and good verbal communication.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull upwards of 20 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work is typically performed within an office, classroom, and Casino setting.
  • Exposure to second-hand smoke and a high noise level.
  • Evening and weekend shifts may be required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
