Job Title: Housekeeping Supervisor
Status: Non-Exempt
Job Summary
Assists with the management and operation of housekeeping and laundry departments to ensure orderly and attractive conditions in the hotel. Promotes an atmosphere of cleanliness and superior customer care for hotel guests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist Executive Housekeeper in directing the activities of the housekeeping and laundry departments and furnishing exemplary daily cleaning service to guest rooms and all other areas of the hotel.
- Assist in the preparation of work schedules for staff based on projected occupancy.
- Substitute in the absence of the Executive Housekeeper; communicating with all other departments.
- Provide guest room status reports to Front Desk, Executive Housekeeper, and General Manager
- Inspect premises, guest rooms, linen rooms, and public areas to assure employees maintain the property’s superior standards of housekeeping.
- Communicate all maintenance and repair needs to appropriate individuals.
- Help maintain an inventory of guest and housekeeping supplies and linen, ordering replacement of supplies and equipment as needed.
- Create a service environment focused on the guest, with a passion for high standards in cleanliness; responds promptly to customer needs.
- Ensure good safety practices of employees and guests throughout the hotel, assisting in the maintenance of proper emergency and security procedures.
- Assist in the training and motivation of housekeeping staff.
- Perform room attendant duties, when required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education/Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two years prior housekeeping experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Basic purchasing and inventory skills needed.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
Computer Skills
Basic Microsoft office skills needed; use of Property Management software is required.
Other
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
