Churchill Downs Racetrack is a horse racing complex that spans 147 acres, located on Central Avenue in south Louisville, Kentucky. Our most significant structure - the Twin Spires is an architectural feature which sits atop the grandstand and has become the universally recognized symbol for Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby, known to be the most exciting two minutes in sports. We attract record-breaking crowds of more than 170,000.
Our Racetrack is owned and operated by Churchill Downs Incorporated. We currently hold the record for the longest-running, continuous sporting event in the United States.
Our current amenities include private luxury sites, integrated simulcast areas, permanent, bright light fixtures for nighttime races, and the Big Board - the world’s largest 4k resolution video screen (171 feet wide by 90 feet tall).
The team at Churchill Downs works year-round to deliver an inspiring and world-class event to thousands of fans, but also to provide the safest racing environment each and every day. We are proud of the enduring legacy of the Kentucky Derby and these magnificent horses are central to its iconic appeal.
Our parent company Churchill Downs Incorporated (“CDI”, NASDAQ: CHDN) has been creating extraordinary entertainment experiences for nearly 150 years, beginning with the company’s most iconic and enduring asset, the Kentucky Derby.
