Under the direction of the Vice President of Hotel Operations, the Director of Housekeeping is responsible for the planning, organization, development, and direction for the overall operation of the Housekeeping Department. They provide strategic leadership, guidance, and direction on initiatives and operational decisions that simultaneously results in year over year improvements in customer satisfaction scores, improved product quality, and increased operational profitability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Organizes, directs, and oversees all housekeeping operations including, but not limited to: budgeting and forecasting, purchasing and inventory control, department management, policy implementation and enforcement of procedure and operation standards, and department communications2. Develops a business plan that supports enterprise initiatives and long-term department vision and direction, including enhancement of housekeeping/laundry quality and service, associated costs, employee development, retention strategies, and employee productivity benchmarks.3. Ensures all team members consistently meet all standards of safety, cleanliness, and maintenance by conducting regular inspections of the hotel and team member practices. Ensures proper maintenance of all housekeeping/laundry equipment and usage of chemicals and cleaning supplies by monitoring usage, confirming complete training for team members, and ensuring proper labeling of hazardous supplies in accordance with federal, state, local, and enterprise regulations. Establishes health and safety policies and procedures for staff and safeguards their compliance.4. Drives results through staff development and appropriate training programs, monitors results through evaluation, inspection, and analysis.  Ensures effective processes, positions, and performance management systems are in place.  Provides leadership and direction in the execution and measurement of guest service standards within all operations to ensure continued growth and profitability.5. Monitors and evaluates all daily departmental activities to ensure the successful day-to-day management of operations as well as the success of ongoing improvements and projects.  Oversees analysis of departmental issues and recommends courses of action to improve and/or enhance the overall department.6. Maintains occupational knowledge and skills by conducting research, attending seminars, educational workshops, classes, and conferences.  Maintains familiarity with Forbes Travel Guide standards.7. Monitors fiscal budget, KPI’s yield management of department inventory, operations of assigned departments, and marketing strategies to produce both short- and long-term profitability. Analyzes revenue and labor reports, making strategic adjustments as necessary in order to ensure maximum profitability and efficiency.8. Establishes and maintains strong relationships with all hotel management, as well as appropriate relationships with all hotel associates.  Establishes and maintains strong working relationship with all related third-party vendors, and monitors partnership amongst team to ensure meeting of all service and production standards9. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Makes hiring decisions and designs individual development plans with succession planning in mind for all key roles.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS    

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Hospitality, Business Administration, or similar field preferred.  

  • Master’s is preferred.  

  • A minimum of eight (8) years in housekeeping operations required. Luxury hotel/casino environment preferred. 

  • Minimum seven (7) years supervisory experience required.

  • Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

•    Ability to prepare, understand, present, and analyze business strategies with advanced proficiency in budgeting, P&L, and business planning mandatory.•    Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point.•    Proven managerial problem-solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to exercise independent judgment.•    Ability to identify and prioritize issues, delegating as appropriate, to drive to measurable results.•    Must possess demonstrated leadership ability, as well as organizational and strategic planning.

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS

•    At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.•    Select One of the Following: 

  • ☐ Authorized Driver: Role requires operation or driving of Tribe-owned vehicles or driving patron vehicles. A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the insurance carrier is required. 
  • ☐ Driving Responsibilities: Role requires regular commuting between locations. A valid driver's license and vehicle insurance with minimum liability limits is required. Role will not operate or drive Tribe-owned vehicles or patron vehicles.
  • ☒ No Driving Responsibilities: Role does not require a driver’s license or insurance.
