Lifeguard

Opportunity:  Lifeguard

Monitor activities in swimming areas to prevent accidents and provide assistance to swimmers.

Essential Job Functions

• Maintain order and enforce pool rules in swimming and sauna areas.
• Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning and administer first aid.
• Clean thee pool and sauna regularly of loose debris.
• Keep chairs, etc. in order, arranging them neatly within the pool deck area.
• Report to management any safety hazardous.
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination within and other departments.
• Ensures all operational and safety procedures are properly followed
• Report to management any safety hazardous.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

• High School Diploma preferred or equivalent experience. 
• Must be able to communicate clearly with guests, customers, supervisor and fellow employees in English.
• Current Lifeguard Certification including CPR and First Aid required.

Work Environment and Context

• Frequently standing up and moving about the pool area. 
• Carrying or lifting persons from water. 
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Must be able to work long hours/split shifts and be able to handle stressful conditions.
• Must be able to swim 200 continuous yards and retrieve 10 lb. brick from the bottom of 5 1/2 feet and tread water with no hands for 2 minutes.
• May be required to work rotating shifts, night shifts, and/or overtime. Depending on the season, hours may be reduced at any time.
• Wet and/or humid conditions. 
• Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, and extreme heat.  
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
